I just turned 60 and what Pete said about the 80s is completely accurate. Lots of mixed messages about “male bonding” in my generation. This was a very solid set. He no longer needs our sympathy - he’s just being the masterful comedian he is. Bravo.

When Norm was doing update back in the day...I didn't really get him...he just seemed like he was pretending to be a dumb guy. Many years later I came around and now I can't get enough of Norm's old update clips, I've seen just about every talk show appearance he ever did, I've read his book, a buddy of mine and I drove 5 hours to see him do two back-to-back shows at the San Jose Improv, and he's easily on my Mt. Rushmore of stand-ups. Not saying Pete has Norm's genius or staying power...but he's got a thing...and maybe it'll hit you different at another point in time.

My dad wore dresses as a teen. My aunt said he liked wearing women's clothes and the whole family was shocked he WASN'T gay. Back then, "man in a dress" = "gay." Nope, just super liberal. He'd say, "Wear what you want, date who you want, love however you want." Some 80s dads turned out cool.
