Sweetheart, BE PROUD! It is the ignorant - not you, darling - who should be embarrassed. To paraphrase to highly acclaimed musical Hamilton: “The Founding Fathers had beliefs, the Confederacy had none!” The Founding Fathers were not perfect but at least the tried to create a better system, and they had to do so on their own without much support. They were a rag tag group against the most powerful empire in the world and were willing to sacrifice everything including their lives. And more so the values of the Founding Fathers especially those values written in the Declaration and Bill of Rights are timeless and have been used to inspire the next generations to keep fighting against oppression and corruption, even if it wasn’t their intent. Now compare that to the Confederacy whose government was only concerned with maintaining power, willing to betray America and a sell out the nation to the British, inspired terrorism to future generations, the only major values they fought for is self preservation without even creating a better democratic system, and claimed to be fighting against oppression despite oppressing both the poor farmers who could never compete with monolithic plantations and of course oppressing the slaves of America. And sure they can claim to be about states rights and maybe that’s the lie they told poor farmers pissed off at the escalating war, but in reality they fought for the same money and power the north wanted, with the only differences being an emphasis on agriculture and employees forced to work for them for no pay. Not to mention the monstrous acts of violence they inspired, and the false toxic views they ingrained into the minds of millions. If their legacy was supposed to be honor and states rights why did the Confederacy inspire so many groups calling for bloodshed and hate with groups like the Alt Right or the KKK. Meanwhile the Founding Fathers’ legacy consists of just as many if not more people trying to help the nation even more so than the Founding Fathers did
