i am pretty confident in my handicapping, although i sometimes get excited especially on big stakes racing days like the breeders cup day. discipline has been my downfall. whether it be trying to bet multiple tracks simultaneously, or playing every race. this is wrong i know , mix that in with alcohol, and you get a lethal combination. .be wise

I can't stress enough how Great this video is. Coming from a poker background before getting into horse racing, bankroll management, in my opinion, should be the number 1 priority. Playing within your MEANS is the only way to have fun and make money. But discipline is just as important. That means not going on "tilt" or "dumping your pockets" on the last race because you had a bad day. Trust me, I've been there. However I think it's ok, every now and then to stab at a shot with a big bet such as $100 bucks, as long as its within your means and you think there's a real solid chance to make money.

Chart what days you do best on over the years and bet more on those days. This has worked for me over the years I know not why but it works for me. Ever since they put slot machines in at the racetracks I always do best on Saturdays for some reason. Before the slots were in the racetracks Saturday was my worse day.

This reminds me a lot of when I was a senior in high school in the mid eighties. I would ditch school after lunch and go play the horses at Santa Anita and a Hollywood park. I studied William Scott’s book, ‘Investing at the track’. I was very disciplined applying his ability times to the top 3 horses in a race, betting $50 to win on 2-3 races per card from a $2500 bankroll. I thought I was king of the world when I showed a $1500 profit over a couple of 90 day meets.

I've read in other books 5%......my bank roll is at this moment $65 , in any case, I like to bet 3 horses, I'm sure not an efficient way to bet, but I try to find the false favorite and beat him with 3 horses of equal talent but at prices that I can win $9 or better on my $6 bet.....been doing fairly well with it lately.....I did guess wrong the other night, lost $6...... hard to be patient and wait for the right spot, but I like to feel confident in my bet, if not I pass.....and I've passed on races I guessed right at and missed some nice payoffs........curses

The headline is betting horses with a small bankroll. You then start by asking if you have this small bankroll what is it you want to achieve. Do you want to just have fun? Anyone that just goes betting for fun is not interested in you telling them how to bet with their small bankroll. The only people who are interested are those who want to know how to win. Now seeing as how you dont seem to know that i cannot watch your video anymore. It is going to be just hot air. .

When you say bankroll, is that for a day at the track, a weekend, or the entire meet? Inquiring minds want to know. And what about pick 4 and pick 5 bankrolls?
@Xofraz2 ай бұрын
He means how much cash you have total to invest. IE if you have 1000 dollars you should only be betting 2% or 3% of that amount(bankroll). So 20 or 30 dollars per race at a 1000 dollar bankroll. Most of this advice is sound however there are a lot of tracks that offer lower bet exotics(20 cents), Woodbine Mohawk comes to mind they have one of the highest handles. Which I don't think a lot of these videos take into consideration. Playing the odds is fine and while trainers and jockeys do matter this was a great vid on bankroll management and he is 100% correct in betting only 2% to 3% of your bankroll and adjusting accordingly on gains and losses.

BS. Horse race betting is based on 100% skill. There is no luck in horse racing. Only bad luck. Just like chess. Thats why it requires you to be a expert to win consistently. Its one sport where you dont need a big bank roll to start. But you need enough money to withstand the bad luck. Most important you need the skill or you dont stand a chance of winning consistently. Not many people have the skill and dont take the time to learn. THATS why most people lose. Not because they dont have enough money

Firstly this is just generic advice. You should actually bet relative to the price, as the price reflects the relative probability of the horse winning. Also I don't see how you can make money on American racing as it uses a pool system. You can't secure early odds. On British racing you can make a living. But it gets hard to keep bookmaker accounts, they ban you over time, forcing you onto exchanges. But it's still possible to make a good living betting. I have made 6 figures a year for 10+ years. But never had any interest in American racing because like I said, if the money is down the odds just decrease as it's a pool system. How do you obtain value?
@greer2402 Жыл бұрын
You are talking about fixed odds betting. A few companies tried that in USA and they went broke
@elastronaute1198 Жыл бұрын
@@greer2402 then they didn't do it right, probably because they were exploited and didn't know how to keep up with the odds. Also I gather there is a lot more 'gambles' and corruption in US racing. In the UK they certainly make it work.
