Mikes IV, V and VI were all donated to LSU from rescue facilities. LSU has not purchased a tiger since Mike III in 1956, and LSU does not support the for-profit breeding of tigers. These tigers were kittens in petting exhibits and when they grew too big they would normally be euthanized.

LSU’s mike isn’t the only wild animal mascot . Also mike in recent history is also been tigers from either rescues or contrevasion efforts not “backyard breeders”. They also use him as a teaching tool for preserving the tiger species and do tones of fun raisers for tigers as a whole. Plus this tiger has the best vet care in the state , more money is spent on his care then tigers is almost any zoo

He has terminal cancer now, although his treatments are going well, he will no longer be attending the games anymore, and he won't physically be himself anymore. LSU is doing the best of their ability to make the rest of Mike's life the most comforting, and pleasured. As a diehard Tiger fan, and how much I love each and every Mike the Tiger, It wouldn't feel right not having a tiger on campus. None of the tigers at LSU were taken out of the wild, they were all born in captivity. Therefore, putting these tigers into the wild, have an extreme likelihood of killing them, by face predators they've never interacted with in there life.

I believe what she said is actually true because Tom the Tiger doesn't live on the Memphis campus. Tom the Tiger actually resides in a private location south of the city of Memphis. Unfortunately, students and families can't regularly visit him because Memphis decided to keep the private location disclosed for the safety of Tom and the public. You can always see Tom at the home Memphis football games!

+Js Pss Mike has an over 2.8 billion dollar habitat, a pool that is nicer than some apartment complexes, if there was a fir or anything gone wrong on campus Mine would be gone before the students. Your ignorance is devastating. First of, you don't know shit about this tiger you don't know what he wants you don't know what he thinks. Secondly, most facilities for wild animals have more than one wild cat in one enclosure because it's imperative for a animal to socialise with his own species. As this tiger ages he may need a companion but tbh it's kinda careless to keep him alone all the time. Not so long ago there was a case of animal hold alone for a show which after some time was so fucking depressed that he was just lying down all day long looking like a total disaster. I'm not saying it will be same with this tiger but his behaviour already changed and the fact that tiger is not with his own species maybe is causing this change.

Growing up in captivity causes an animal to grow up with different perceptions of the world around them. He does not know what to fear/trust, do/don't ext. ext. in a natural world. It shows you've never been to an LSU game because Mike is placed by the visiting teams locker room and any drunk fan can not walk up to him and "roar" at him.
