Weeki Wachee was so much nicer 40 , 50 years ago . I’ve always felt that no one should be able to to build on our waterways or beaches the waterways should be open to all the only thing that should be on our coastline I’s Marinas, Boatyards , Restaurants, Boardwalks, Parks all single family dwelling should be built 1 major roadway off the beaches . The Florida Coast , Rivers , Springs should be open and accessible to everyone.

We saw a very healthy bull shark swimming up the river.Glad to be in our kayak and if the river is so important then start looking at septic tanks for compliance.

The river is important, what they are addressing here has nothing to do with that.

There’s a bunch of people who buy building lots next to dairy farms and the cry because they don’t like the way cows smell. Personally, I’m in favor of those laws that allow public access to water ways and allows everyone access to the water a not just those fortunate enough to buy water front property.

So basically people that are well-off and have worked hard to get what they own have to share with visitors that can't afford it and trash it? Right. Gotta love socialism.

Ahhh it’s not that bad, I go every weekend to a different spring. Depending on the time you go be use most people rent and they have to get their kayaks back by 4ish. But usually only a couple hundred people on the whole 5.8 mile river. Not horrible but definitely would be a lot more peaceful if there weren’t as many.

Duh, of course. Florida is beautiful. Your state certainly likes the increased tourism and so do local businesses so be quiet. That's what always happens..everywhere. Welcome to reality.

How are kayakers and paddled boarders supposed to take a break…it takes energy to do that so what if you have to pull over to take a little break? Are you gonna get it trouble?

This is more about the people who have homes on the water not wanting the peasants stopping on their shore. You can stop upstream inside the park all you want. This no stopping area starts where the land is private. Notice the homes along the 5.6 mile streach just outside of the park don't have to obey the rules with their own boats and docks. If this were about preserving the river they'd make all the homes remove their docks from inside the river and let nature reclaim the shores. This is corruption.

Please post video updates if you have any more info on designated areas and whatnot, I like the idea as long as they allow designated areas cuz 6 miles is quite the hike without a rest. As far as the residence, this is a waterway, not your private property. And since I see most residence tailgating, don't get pissed when visitors do the same...

@@jasonmartin5955 i don't really care about homeowners (in fact think spring runs should all be left in their natural state), but can agree that anchoring should not be allowed. Not long ago this was the nicest, cleanest place to go kayaking. And there was no alcohol or drugs allowed or stopping in many areas was prohibited. I see the new arrivals don't care about our nature anymore than they do about anything else Florida used to be good at. Id move up north but that's where the problem comes from. Used to be cops handing out tickets to people on the river for violations.
