Love, love, love, thank you for teaching me about Asian art. I received quite a few dishes from my X's grandmother. She spent many years collecting, the least I can do is learn. Some of the cups and bowls are so thin I'm afraid they will break looking at them. She loved Japanese dishes, but had a few Chinese also. Again thank you for all you do!

Japanese art seems so unappreciated compared to Chinese material today, especially when compared to the 80' and 90's when it was so popular. Then Japan had economic problems and interest for many collapsed. I think much of it has to do with the "Bandwagon " effect. Like us, you've been in the trade for a long time, and have seen markets or areas get "hot" and suddenly everyone wants to join in. It surely happened 25 years ago in the Americana market (now dead) and the "Vintage Toy" category (Remember the "Mint and Boxed" Company?) now caput. You find out very quickly how many serious collectors there actually are when prices fall. Most cease buying or dump their collections. In any event, I've always like Japanese material and still buy it, and quite happily so at relative bargain prices. Best regards, Peter!

Buyer beware fake stuff from eBay. make sure they have a return policy.

True, I got scanned so many times. Lot of dishonest sellers here. Fleabay is for experts who can tell what the object is just by a couple of photos and description.

The problem of fakes on eBay is why we started Bidamount.com and the Newsletter page. We've been in the business for nearly forty years. Each week we hand-pick things and share them via the Newsletter pages with our subscribers. eBay for, 20 years, has been reluctant to act proactively in any way to diminish fraudulent activity. It's also why we do these and other videos, to share what we've learned over the years that might help folks avoid making mistakes. The problem of fakes also extends well beyond eBay into sites like Live Auctioneers , Invaluable and Bid_square. SO always be vigilant and ask lots of questions...Best Peter

for that Japanese Tobe figure, did you notice the shipping cost? $111!

I suspect thats a screw up by eBay. THey've changed their shipping module and it arrives at crazy prices in some cases depending on the bix size entered by the seller. . I suspect the actual cost ended up much less. Sellers have to be very careful with the detail section of listings. Best peter
