As it’s cold weather a soup made with soup mix, diced carrots and cabbage is a nice veggie option. Also veggie pasties! 😋

Oh whoa,those markdowns are incredible. I don't think i have ever seen meat that cheap at my locals. The only cheapest thing i have recently purchased was those youfoodz meals. The standard ones $4 and the high protein ones $6. This country is so bloody expensive, it's depressing. I remember my family and i struggling back in the day (90s) we used to eat the home brand stuff (nothing wrong with that) but even that is too expensive; black and gold,etc.

Yes the price of food is crazy!!! We live a very basic lifestyle which helps but at times it’s still frustrating

lamyong soy nuggets are pieces of chicken like and are great in stirfry, curry etc no strong taste and usually $12.99 for a huge bag at asian grocers!

Kelly, couple of channels on here your daughter might be interested in, Yeung Man cooking and Andrew Bernard ( The Nard Dog cooks ). My daughter does not eat meat and only occasionally eats fish. Had a check as, I buy a dried protein mince for making bolognaise, seen Woolworth's sell one in Australia: Macro Textured Vegetable Protein 200g.

Great thanks - I was so hesitant about sharing as so many have been telling me what to do but it's not as easy as 'stop eating meat' so it's stressful at times!

Its really lovely seeing you embrace your daughter's wishes and giving it a go. You'd be surprised how many parents will not. She's lucky to have you! One of my daughters (vegan) wont eat any mock meats except the fry"s sausage rolls and one type of chick'n. Tofu is her best friend 😅 your daughter might like bao buns? She seems to like asian food? You can have some vege mayo and air fry slices of tofu with salt and a sprinkle of nutritional yeast, I side that with some broccoli and sweet potato chips. That's just one idea that is a cheaper meal and balanced 😊

Some people underestimate how texture can be such an important factor. I can’t handle any beans with their weird squish. A food can be ok in one form but with cooking/preparing etc you can’t eat it anymore cause texture change (pulled chicken for me). A colour change or it’s just a ‘somethings’ different now. I appreciate you sharing bits of Kira’s journey & she’ll find some new fav regular meals eventually:)

Yes!!! So glad someone gets it people think ‘just cut out meat and eat chic peas’ so I just had to get that in there that we can’t as a defence as it grinds my gears lol 😂

If your daughter likes the eggplant and Greek food you could try eggplant moussaka....

Yes thanks - she cut it up to put inside the vegie lasanga (diced up not as replacement for pasta) to see how the texture would work

Try recipes with textured vegetable protein. I make a chilli with beans and tvp, and use it in tacos and on wraps depending on the liquard content

@@FrugalFunMum thats o.k all the food you have there in the tightpackaging freezes o.k for about 3 months. Its mostly water so doesn't freeze as well as meat. Also if you are using the mince with pasta sauce try and boil off the vinegar, there is no fat in the vego mince to be tenderised or "absorb" the vinegar and add some grated carrot and olive oil xo

What about beans? Like canned and dried ones to make things with. There has been a massive jump with products etc. Maybe watching Rachel and Troy with ideas on what you could do etc. Also there is a channel called family freedom who are vegan on meal ideas

I’ve already spoken to Rachel we don’t eat a lot of the foods they cook we are very basic
