Weekly Vlog # 307: A night out in Amsterdam | Crafting Slump?

welcome back to another slice of my weekly waffling, I hope you've
all had a good week. If its your first time stopping by the channel, thank you

This week's vlog starts with a fun night out with our friends in Amsterdam. If you've ever visited Amsterdam before we stayed in the Leidseplein area and strangely, it was pretty quiet on the touristy front. Maybe the miserable
weather has put people off. If you're looking for a nice Mexican place to eat I can recommend Tacos & Tequila, the atmosphere is nice and chilled, good food and great cocktails. If you're done with eating, pop into the Waterhole
for live bands and a bit of a boogie. Its 5 euro to get in but the drinks are very reasonably priced for Amsterdam.
Anyway that was a fun weekend followed by "back to normal" week. I have been feeling very tired but I think its the aftermath of the Nairobi visit. Mid-week we had fantastic news, William got the call from school that he had passed his end of year exams with flying colours and can graduate in July. The end of an era!
I also chatted about being in a bit of a crafting slump but the chat with you had given me the push I needed and I ended up casting on a new crochet project. Thanks for helping even though you didn't know you had ha ha ha.

Hello lovely Dawn 🌼 Glad your tummy issues are over and your crochet top looks lush, love the colours. I’m enjoying knitting cotton dk shorties socks, using scraps of my dishcloth cotton to make crazy stripy scrappy socks! They must look good as even my daughter wants a pair now! @@DawnsDays I used the Sunshine On My Feet dk shorties sock pattern by The Kitchen Sink Shop and just did them stripy instead and plain stocking stitch 🧶🧦

Hi Dawn. I’m knitting socks, socks, and more socks. I give 99% of my knit socks away so I can just knit, knit, knit. Congratulations to Joshua! If anybody gets close enough to your socks being worn to see that they’re not “neat enough” - - - they’re too close! I’ve given away, literally hundreds of pairs of socks, and nobody has ever had anyone say they didn’t like them. I just always have had the pleasure and therapy of the knitting. The recipient can always wear the socks as cozy bed socks. My best to you all. 😘

Hi Dawn, sorry you'd lost your crafting mojo but glad you've found it. I've had to stop my crafting as osteoarthritis is making it impossible but hopefully, if things settle down, I'll be able to do a little. This is the beginning of the 8th week since George's accident and he's still very poorly. He sustained a fracture in his spine and two broken ribs, one in two places which caused a flail chest which, together with his COPD and Bronchiectasis, caused pneumonia so there's been two hospital stays and it's been really tough. He's still in a lot of pain and I'm doing everything for him. A wheely walker was delivered on Friday so I've been out with him for two short walks, but we have to wait for breaks in the weather! Congratulations to William, well done for doing extremely well xx

Hi Dawn ,thanks for this weeks vlog ,i enjoyed it as usual . I too have been in a crafty slump and have no socks on the needles but ive just made a few of the Sophie Scarves. Theyre so quick to knit and only use approx 25g of yarn ..im making one in all my winter clothes, colour pallette! I love a shawl but sometimes i get a little warm with them so these little neck scarves are super for keeping you warm without the bulk ❤

Hi Dawn. At present I’m travelling around from Australia and was in Amsterdam on Monday the 10th watching out incase I saw you. I stumbled upon Stephen and Penelope’s but couldn’t for the life of me find any other yarn fabric shops. I needed you Lolol thanks for your blog vlog ect. Have enjoyed them for along time.

Love the colour of your nails! They really pop and feel summery, which we need while summer is taking a vacation... The link to the crochet t-shirt pattern gives a 'page not found' on the K&J website, but I found it anyway (and lots of other gorgeous patterns... 🤩 ) I will definitely give the t-shirt a go. Glad I could be of help 😂and likewise you ignited my crochet spark again with the t-shirt 😄 I'm knitting lacy socks which I'm enjoying and have a shawl going on that I'm not bothered about at the moment. Hi Dawn, I also have lost my crafting mo jo, surrounded by projects but lacking in motivation, got a couple of pairs of socks almost done but need to finish the toes which I always put off doing. On a more positive note my grandaughter is getting married on Tuesday, so looking forward to seeing her looking fabulous, just hoping the weather gremlins have a day off. I’ve just been catching up with your last couple of episodes (now back from our lovely van trip to Orkney!) Very sorry to hear that you were poorly in Kenya and I hope that you are properly recovered now. It’s so easy to be busy all the time and forget how to rest regularly rather than once in a while when we’ve really exhausted ourselves! Take care xx

You night out looked fun Dawn. And a day out with William now that is a treat. I haven’t see the great British sewing bee this year, don’t know why just not that interested 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️. Love island is rubbish but one you have to watch. Lol lol Right here we go. Advents sweaters from arnecarlos loads of amigurumi. Journals felt toys 2 pairs of socks Love the colour of your new top, once you’ve got it put together you’ll never see the odd shape at the sides. It’s bloody freezing here, still sat at night with a fluffy blanket on. 😢😢

I’m doing a new epp project, a friend gifted me the new hexagon perpetual calendar. So enjoying putting fabrics together to make these hexies up. I doubt my crafting will inspire you. I have just managed to sew a baby cardigan up. I finished it weeks ago so that will go in the charity gift bag. I am also working on a cotton/linen jumper and a cardigan for myself. I have another cardigan and jumper I want to start and some socks. I have a bag of things ready for Christmas in July too. Huge well done to William. The start of a new chapter for you all xx.

I'm crocheting my cat her own little afghan. LOL. She likes to cover up and gets very indigent when I don't get the afghan behind my chair for her. But when it's been in the upper 90' it's just too hot, so now she'll have her own that just covers her. Lol I too am getting ready to start a tee. Love the co.ors of yours. Good job William! You have right to be a proud Momma! I really have to watch my salt intake or I puff up like a toad. Lol. How is you new kettle working out?
