Caroline you seem to have such a good relationship with your mum and it’s wonderful that you can support her through her move. Your old home looks beautiful - so many memories, I really feel for you. My children have travelled all over the world and it is hard for us mums. Just be proud that William has the courage and aspiration to want to spread his wings like this - and it is down to you and Ashley that you have raised a young man with this spirit. My week was tough - my son moved to New York - these kids put us through it but we must let them fly. Thinking of you x

The old family home was very beautiful and holds lots of family memories for you all. But, with the change in family circumstances, I think that your mum has done the right thing by downsizing, and her new home (all on ground level) is ideal, with good sized rooms and a small garden. Thank you for the tip about using frozen butternut squash for soup making. Peeling the squash can get quite dangerous!

Best of luck in her new home and another chapter in life. Loved it. Loved the cat meowing at you to feed him. Wee dote. I used to buy fresh now a only buy frozen far cheaper Caroline. And you can just bring out enough without wastage. A try and safe as much pennies were possible now. A do what you do freeze leftovers. And cook another time. Great way to save. And if your busy there's always something from the freezer quick and easy to make. A got that idea from you away long time ago. Anyway eye make lovely as always wish a could be as good as you at choosing a nice way to mix the colours up to end up lookin classy. Glad William is ok and enjoying life. Love The Split - and. have watched as many Barry Atsma things as I can! Nicola Walker is superb in everything. Having moved so many times in my life - I can't even imagine how emotional it was for you saying goodbye to your childhood home. The house looks lovely, and I'm sure your Mum will soon have it as she wants it and will enjoy every minute. Could she put patio stones down where there is currently grass? No maintenance at all, no chance of mold (which can happen with astroturf) and she could fill it with pots of flowers.

Hi Caroline. I understand about saying goodbye to your childhood house. My parents built ours when I was a toddler and my dad downsized to a condo after my mom's passing 44 years later. 😀💕xx thanks Caroline. We had a terrible time when mum had to move out of the family home. She was on her own as dad died many years ago. She had a fall and broke her hip and it was decided that mum just couldn’t stay there any more. It was a really lovely cottage in a lovely town in Surrey. The garden was an absolute jungle as mum didn’t accept help readily. And she didn’t want to move but we found her a lovely flat with assisted living in a retirement village, which she really didn’t settle into. She died just over a year later. One of the worst times of my life, and I became quite I’ll as a result. Lots of love and thanks so much for the vlogs.

Understand the emotions of your mom moving from the family Caroline. When my dad then my mom passed , I had to sort and empty my childhood home. Only us had ever lived in it, they bought it new in 1960. It was such an emotional time. I took my time emptying the house as it was part of the grieving process. and I took so many photos and little videos. It took nearly a year until it was up for sale. It’s good in a way that your mom has downsized, she looks very happy in her new bungalow, it already looks very homey. Glad Will is doing ok and keeping in touch. We never stop worrying about our children however old they are. Xx

Hi Caroline. I got quite emotional listening to you talk about being in the house you grew up in for the last time. My parents, now in their mid and late 80's, still live in the house they were in when I was born and I imagine I shall feel much the same as you when the time comes to sell it. Anyway, I hope your lovely mum is settling in well in her new home. Re books, I have a new one turning up this week, Dark Objects by Simon Toyne. This is the synopsis, "A wealthy woman is found brutally murdered in the locked fortress of her London mansion. Surrounding her are four mysterious objects, including a book on forensics by Dr Laughton Rees." Love this guy's books. I've read all of them. The first 3 formed a trilogy: Sanctus, The Key and The Tower. Very Dan Brown-ish, though much better in my opinion. His next 3 feature a character called Solomon Creed (the middle one being a "short" which shows how the character gets from the 1st to the 3rd. Fans of Lee Child will enjoy these I think. As I said, I've read all of them and struggled to put them down. Was always, "Just one more chapter. Just one more chapter." Then I'd realise it was the early hours of the morning and I had about 4 hours before I needed to be up for work!!!

Morning Caroline . I could see how you were full of emotion looking at each room in your childhood home . The glimpse of old wallpaper reminding you of the curtains in your room and the view of the garden from your window. Was your Mum very emotional too Caroline ,to leave? My feelings are in alignment with yours at this moment in time. My Mum passed away in May after living in her bungalow for 60 years and I'm about to start sorting her belongings . So it is going to be very hard doing it alone. Your Mum's new house does look nice and hopefully ,will be a more manageable size for her. I hope that she is still in an area that is familiar to her and eventually feels that it is becoming her home . Best wishes to your Mum. She looks so good ! x

@@CarolineMrsM Hello Caroline, that is a good point to think on , as the temptation is to continue for several hours . But as you so rightly say , it is not just the practical sorting of my parents belongings , it is the emotional upheaval linked with it and the ongoing legalities / sale of property. As the only child and not in good health myself at almost 64 , I will have to perhaps only do 2 or 3 hours each day. Thank you for your thoughts and I do so empathise about your family situation , the care of your parents and all that you are feeling & going through the hard process of your Dad's poor health. The frustration with the social 'care' system and minute bureaucracy that they enforce! Do hope your Mum settles in her house . It is a traumatic time that you are all experiencing. Overwhelming at times. Thank you for your kind words and my ongoing uplifting support to you too . Courage and strength x Janette

That book about the vineyard near Bordeaux by Caro Feely - I was taken there by my "kids" for my 60th! Also c1980 we had that Laura Ashley wallpaper (blue and white) and matching curtains - with navy hessian in the bay recess, in our first home - probably nearly everyone did!

Oh how interesting that you've been to the vineyard, I'm looking forward to reading the book.

Butternut squash is dangerous to chop anyway; I have a lovely scar on my index finger thanks to a butternut squash! The frozen strawberries are good in gin too 😉

Hi Caroline, totally random question but did your Mum take those gorgeous blue curtains with matching headboards from the room you used and vlogged from? You’ve both done so much already, I hope that as a family you make further happy memories. Greetings from Germany xxx

@@CarolineMrsM That’s great, they always look so fresh and pretty, it would have been such a pity to leave them behind, looking forward to seeing them again in future vlogs, big hugs to your Mum on a brave and emotional move, xxx.

You definitely aren’t in a club for one in any of your” subjects” talked about today. I love your channel, my husband, who is supposed to be washing up when l watch you, pokes his head round the door and says “Is that Caroline “ 😂😂Im a Mrs M too and he pretends he isn’t interested. Nosey I’d call it 😂😂Thanks for what you do,l really enjoy it. Xx
