I waited sooo long to be a sports mom, lol, and now that I finally am...I absolutely LOVE it!! When I found out I was having a boy with my 1st pregnancy, I immediately started hoping he would want to play sports. Well he's autistic and has absolutely zero interest in anything physical. He is a computer/gaming kid. Then I got pregnant with my 2nd son 5yrs later. By that time, I wasn't really thinking about sports. He suffers from really bad social anxiety and ADD/ADHD. He wanted to play sports, but was never comfortable with all the new people and being watched. He started middle school last year and his psychiatrist recommended trying them out. He had never played sports at all, not even at a playground for fun. He tried out basketball, and though he still struggles with worrying about people watching him(especially if he makes a mistake, missing a basket, etc), he loves it. This year(7th grade) he is now also playing football for the 1st time. I take him to all of his practices(both sports) and usually stay the whole practice(at 1st I stayed bc he wasn't comfortable being there without me, now I just enjoy it lol). I'm at all of the games. I volunteer to do the stats, etc. Unfortunately, their father is not active with them, so I wouldn't have a choice either way. Luckily, I absolutely love all of it, even though it's exhausting, especially when my fibromyalgia is flaring up. Love that we'll have these memories to look back on. He says he loves that his mom is always there supporting at both practices and games. And it has helped with his social anxiety some, as well, helping him to make a ton of new friends.

I was just talking to someone about how I use to have to go to Park ball with my boys from the age of four years old. I was feeling just like you couldn’t wait until the game was canceled😂But when I tell you, it was worth every bit of it, now both of my boys play College ball for LSU, this is their second year.
