just saw this on a fb post right before watching this video & found it super helpful 💘 Degradable, biodegradable and compostable - what's the difference? Biodegradable - items are biodegradable when living things such as bacteria or fungi can break it down. Certain conditions must be met for it to happen e.g. temperatures must reach 50 degrees Celsius and exposure to UV light. In a nutshell, these items can't biodegrade in landfill or the ocean. AVOID! Degradable - doesn't require living things to break down, particular chemicals are added to these items to help them break down. Degradable items will "break down" into microplastics - thumbs down! Compostable - plant based product rather than plastic and can be "digested" by bacteria in composting conditions (eg home compost bins or composting facilities). To be classified as "compostable" it must meet certain conditions such as breaking down within a particular time frame, can't leech harmful residues or be toxic to worms. So keep your eyes peeled for COMPOSTABLE, the others are greenwash!

heyaaaa, so to clear up things when it comes to 'degradable' 'biodegradable' and 'compostable' the BEST option is compostable, this is because the product is made out of plant sources such as starch or part of a plant and this also means there is no-little artificial compounds (ingredients) inside, this will fully break down into the soil (leaving no traces) and at times can actually better the soil nutrients levels as it composts (composting = putting good bacteria back into the soil which helps put nutrition back into the soil.) you can create your own composting system for your veggies/plants by collecting your food scraps and putting them back into the soil creating a great little ecosystem to keep plants happy and healthy. theres lots of website that cant help you out! biodegradable is similar to compostable in the sense that bacteria helps to break it down and is made out of mostly plant products but is usually less organic and leaves traces of the product isn't visible to the eye. degradable just means it will 'break down' so you cant see it anymore, it is made out of little to no organic matter which just means over time the product will break its bonds and just become smaller and smaller until you cant see it anymore, but it will always be there in some form or another. this form of break down is called micro plastics! (bad for our oceans!!). so sometimes degradable is actually worse then a normal plastic bag because depending on your local council but plastic bags are starting to recycled! so in a nutshell, go compostable and/or biodegradable, natural, promotes good bacteria growth and nutrition in our soils. degradable is what i like to call "greenwashing" where brands add feel good words which mean nothing such as degradable, to make you think that buying their product is better. when really its the same if not worse. what i do for my bins is use newspaper, i line the bottom of the bin with newspaper and add bi carb(rids odours and helps absorb liquid.) newspaper is actually compostable. i would highly recommend looking into a composting system! you can make a food scraps bin in your home and deposit into your garden under the soil and help keep your soil healthyyyyyyyyyyyy!! hope this hepls a bit!! sorry its a bit confusing! xxx lots of love

This happened with my family, we were on the other side however. We had to sell the home we were living in for financial reasons and moved back into the house we were renting out to a small family. Circumstances change and unfortunately we also weren’t able to stay in that home and since then I have moved 3 times in 3 years as well so I feel your pain

Honestly even being apart of a church I had no idea how much went on behind the scenes! I've just started as a youth intern at my church and there is so so much to be done but it's so interesting too!! Excited to see some behind the scenes of what you're doing with your youth!

On the moving vlogs: Whichever is the easiest workload on you is perfectly fine for us, lovely! If there isn't much difference though, I personally love having them separate...I don't know why, but watching people pack/unpack and organize/set up their living space is so calming and inspirational to me! So it would be awesome to be able to have full videos dedicated to just that, however either way I know you will provide amazing content, as you always do

They were exactly the circumstances in which I had to move back in September. I’d been in my previous apartment for 6 years, and suddenly got told they owners weren’t in a position to continue renting. Turned out they had a family member who needed somewhere near the hospital to live while undergoing monitoring and treatment. It was frustrating to have to move, and without much notice or planning, but it all worked out in the end.

the garbage bags are a good example of ‘green washing’ which is where companies put words on products that make it seem like they’re better for the environment so people buy them. But they’re only biodegradable, which pretty much means nothing! Just means they’ll degrade but it could be over hundreds of years. They’re the same as plastic bags. Best thing to do is have a little kitchen compost bin and separate your waste so the stuff that doesn’t need to go to landfill doesn’t get thrown away. Love these vlogs, all the best 💗

Degradable bags are still not biodegradable, meaning they will take a long time to break down, however, in the context of bin liners, they are the better option in comparison to normal plastic ones

‘Degradable’ bags are not great because they just break up into smaller pieces which can then be eaten by animals probably 😓. ‘Biodegradable’ bags are better because they actually completely break down over time I’m pretty sure. I think that brand you bought is only degradable unfortunately. I made the same mistake of getting them a few times thinking it was better for the environment. Sucks that they market it as a good alternative when it kinda isn’t 😭

hey rachel! I love your videos and want to tell you that you create really great content :) I also want to tell you that that anxiety has no right to be on your body. Jesus took that on the cross!!! not only did he take our sins but ALL sickness as well. So when that anxiety tries to come on you, you speak to that spirit of anxiety and tell it to GO in Jesus name!!! 1 Peter 5:7 - cast all your care upon Him for He cares for you!!! Rachel you are a mighty woman of God and never forget that greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. love you xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
