Time of the Flies sounds really interesting. Othello is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays, too. I always enjoy hearing you talk about what you're reading.

Original Allens are real treasures. 'Pat's Dream' is wonderful! You've got me thinking about Othello now, think I'll make it my next Shakespeare. Also, that sweater is gorgeous, love those colors! 💙

The Matt Haig book sounds like something I would enjoy! Chekoff sounds VERY intriguing, but I agree that now is not the time to explore that darkness. I need to stay in the light. I loved hearing you talk about Othello. We just read it in one of my classes. Iago is such a memorable villain. The ambiguity around his motivations is so intriguing! Thanks for update, Pat.

I mentioned before that I had started reading Amanda Cross thx to your recommendation and am enjoying them. I also recommended her to my cousin who loves mysteries and she emailed me yesterday a grouchy TY for recommending Cross. HAHA. She can't stop reading them. So TY from both of us! Loved the art from Allen. Esp Pat's House. What a fun surprise in the mail.

I'm so much enjoying the Piñeiro novels. And Othello! What a "portrait of villainy" indeed. Iago plays everyone. I would like to read that Billy Collins' collection. The art gifts from Allen are wonderful. Great wrap up!

I never got beyond past the plays with Chekhov. The names were just too confusing, and to my teenage brain it seemed to be just people “staring out of windows, whining about ducks going to Moscow”. I’ll have to give him another go…

@@GenreBooks23 funny! The names are a challenge, for sure. With the plays, I had to keep turning back to the beginning to remind myself who was who. It did help to watch film productions afterwards. Ward No. 6, though, almost did me in. Too dark for right now for me.

@@booksoffthebeatenpath I kind of have to read multiples at once for all the different events I want to take part in. So long as they are sufficiently different, I’m usually okay. I think I’m able to do this because, as a teacher, I was always teaching three or four different books at a time for the three or four different courses I taught simultaneously. Allen’s artwork is wonderful, isn’t it?

Wonderful video, Miss Pat! The Matt Haig book sounds incredible. I will be reading “The Midnight Library” in December as I feel the premise has a tad of an “It’s a Wonderful Life” tone to it, which I feel would be fitting for the aesthetic of the holiday season. I loved “The Humans” when I read that last year so I’m looking forward to reading more of Haig’s literature.

Gosh I really ought to squeeze jn a Chekhov play or short story before the end of the month. In October I watched a stunning version of Uncle Vanya on National Theatre at Home. Time of the Flies first though.

We’re reading a couple of short stories in this last week of November. Maybe they’ll be a bit more hopeful. Hope you’re doing well!

Did you read 'The Midnight Library,' by Matt Haig? That book sent a very powerful message. The paintings that Allen from Big Hard Books And Classics are beautiful.

Russian names are my kryptonite! There’s not a lot of cheer in the average piece of Russian literature is there? Allen is Avery talented person.

@@BookishTexan I don’t remember struggling so with the names when I read Dostoyevsky and Tolstoy in college and graduate school. But I’ve really struggled this time around with the names in Chekhov. I can’t keep straight who’s who. And no, there is nothing cheerful or hopeful in anything that I’ve read so far for “Chek-hovember”! Allen’s gifts are real treasures.
