A bit late to comment, but i just wanted to say, you guys have mentionned Upgrade a few times, and I have finally watched it. Absolutely great film, quite possibly the best movie I have watched all year. I will tell all my friends, that movie is great. There, that is all.

James you keep saying that youre no good at interviews, but i think youre a really good interviewer. Asking questions that are actually interesting and not the same stuff weve heard 1000 times and actually allowing the other guy to answer unlike many many terrible interviewers who just make the interview about themselves by talking way too much. you should do this more often

It's always great to see a more independent group being given the opportunity to interview because the questions you ask are so much more interesting than pro forma questions large bodies follow. This and your Edgar Wright interview are both great.

I freaking loved Upgrade have no idea why it took me ages to finally watch it. Seeing how as soon as the first trailer came out I was like this is a film I need to see. I'm a sucker for cool revenge type films just something about them always really satisfied me. Maybe it has something to do with it's easy to instantly connect with a character who has lost something beloved to him. And then wanting to watch them get their revenge. FIlms like Oldboy and I Saw the Devil are among two of my favorites. And I have to put Upgrade up there with them. As I just loved everything the film had to offer. Like I said it's easy for me to fall in love with a revenge film. But Upgrade is one of the few that goes beyond just me enjoying it for that reason. As the plot had me really hooked trying to figure out the mystery. And then the action was just shot and preformed in such a unique and original way. Usually I would dislike a action scene that has a good amount of cuts and camera movement. But Upgrade used those to it's benefit to help enhance the action. Also the ending to the film just left me speechless for a good while. It was something that I saw coming at all even though the hints are all there from basically the start of the film. Just they are so well hidden enough that I never once was able to piece together what was going on. It also made re-watching the film very enjoyable to see all the little clues. Also have to really give it up to Logan Marshall-Green. His performance was one of my favorites in recent memory. I mean his performance was very key to the film seeing how so much of the film focuses just around him. I thought he nailed the role in every aspect. From his range of emotions he was able to display. To probably what I thought was the most stand out thing about his performance was his body acting. And how he had such robotic like movements from the moment STEM is put inside of him. You also notice his movements become more and more robotic as the film goes on.

Kurtzman did help producing or writing, one of the two, on the new Star Trek trilogy so he'd be an alright showrunner for Discovery.

Shout out to Upgrade for being a great movie
@oneopinion68066 жыл бұрын
Upgrade looked spectacular for the purported budget! At no point while watching did I see something that felt small/limited in a way that detracted. The story was great, camerawork was great, actors were great and those things happen just fine without $150million in bonkers CGI. I saw this after seeing Solo, and I thought beforehand that Solo was fine, fun, but after seeing Upgrade it made me retroactively angry and frustrated at Solo for the mad money dumped on it for how it looked. Just a quick addendum on Incredibles 2, all the important things were talked about. I just want to highlight the Crush/UnCrush joke line near the end. For whatever reason that just killed me.

29:50 So she's the first woman to score a superhero movie in the same way that Black Panther was the first superhero movie to have a black lead. ie. It's true if you disregard all the previous ones.
