Her best live performance of All the Man I Need was when she was performing in front of the troops

In her speech she asks "How do you like me now?" and thanks the brothers and sisters in the black department because she was booed at the Soul Train awards because some people didn't think she sang black enough. And here she is winning all the R&B awards.
@nahuelma972 ай бұрын
Yeah, I've seen this performance and that speech several times and only now I'm realizing what she meant by "how do you like me now?". It's kinda sad that she carried that chip on her shoulder for so long, or that the audience had that reaction towards her in the first place, but it's great to know that she got even bigger, more successful, and her cultural impact grew even larger shortly after

If only these new singers had half her vocal talent. No auto-tune, no gimmicks... Just pure vocal talent.

There is no singer like her, never been, never will be and there are good singers out there, she is just uniq

This is peak Whitney Houston. It's like being on an emotional rollercoaster. She's just as vocally brilliant as Mariah and Celine but she's somehow a more believable storyteller than they are.

My favorite era of Whitney. GOAT! You were speaking about her facial choreography, she probably learned it being a model before her singing career took off. I was blessed to see her in concert in ‘91, “I’m your baby tonight” tour, an amazing show❤.

She makes it seem so easy, you think you can do it, too. Anyone with any sense (and doesn´t live in a fantasy world!) understands that the car and shower singing is simply joyful... but in no way coming close to Whitney. She inspires you to want to sing and sing well. Her live performances are always a treat; she doesn´t seem to ever sing a song the same way twice. I am very glad you are enjoying her as much as you are.

In Black culture, this is a singer who can stand in front of a microphone and sing flatfoot. She didn't walk across the stage, singing. She didn't do any dance steps. She stood in that one spot on stage. And SANG as if her life depended on it! She relied solely on her voice and conveying the words of the song. She LOVES that man with so much emotion!

The Bozo on the left 😂 actually calls out some pretty key points that I always comment on when Whitney sings. Other singers make hideous faces to sing, but she always appears to be in total control of her face and her breath/dynamics. Whether belting or singing lightly in her head voice she stays the same distance away from the mic which is mind blowing to me. - Also, this is going to be as divisive as that Toni Braxton countdown. 😂 I believe “M” can spend their coins how they choose…but I’m DEF curious to know what the next 2 are. Because after the ‘Love Medley’ you guys watched, THAT “All the Man I Need” performance for the Troops was SOUL STIRRING!😂

To be fair a lot of singers make all those faces on purpose for dramatic effect.

Facial choreography. 😂 I love where you guys take us in your videos. My singing teacher called singing the art of tense relaxation, which is a total oxymoron, but makes perfect sense when you realise that whilst you want a relaxed face, throat, neck, shoulders, etc, you need some tension in the muscles that support your diaphragm and posture. Whitney just embodies that.

This is old Hollywood with her signature Bob hair style! This is before the bodyguard! It's a dress! Lol This was when the industry was trying to write her off as a short pop success and they were saying Mariah was the new her but she was more soulful Whitney said how u like me now!

I searched, searched... and found, it's not a blouse with trousers, but a long one-piece dress, very low-cut in the back. This evening dress with golden but iridescent beads is splendid, here's why in the detail of the earrings, gold, enamelled in different shades... It's not colored glass... but how can you even think so? (not even if she were just any Miss Ciccone, with rags in her hair and rubber bracelets from the hardware store!) Oh God, even the Houston of 1982, apart from the jeans, was terrible with the short boots, those sweaters... Let's say that time has improved the style, and the hair, with the use of wigs, always different, much better. At the autopsy, they discovered that the wig had been sewn onto her very short hair. However, when it comes to facial expressions, it certainly wasn't that failed chorister Cissy who taught her anything. Aside from closing her eyes and ears, when her 7 year old Nippy and her younger brother, were sexually abused by Dee Dee Warwich...their aunt, Dionne's sister. The same one who gives her the 4 prizes, in the video you posted and which announces her mini show, this is why the meaning seems to be the opposite, first she sings then she wins... Going back to her face, I think it was a peculiarity of hers... she immersed herself in the song and conveyed the pathos with her facial and body expressions, even if the same song in another live show was arranged differently, and she herself always modified the songs with pauses, vocalizations, melismas, she was master of her instrument, until that failed, imprisoned, drug-addicted Brown arrived, from then on the slow decline. In any case, she will always remain The Voice, and no one else will be able to oust her. Nice channel...I signed up. Ciao, Angelo
