*The vocal elasticity, the vocal control, the melisma, the song interpretation, the velvety-honey like tone that blankets her voice from top to bottom, the diction, the vocal power, the vibrato, the operatic head notes, the resonance, the breath control, the vocal sustainability, the vocal clarity, the vocal emotiveness, the delivery, the stage presence...THE VOICE* Whitney *'The Vocal Tsunami'* Houston...... Whitney *'Diamond Vocal Cords'* Houston.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Whitney Houston is the perfect combination of power, chest, head, bravado, riffs, runs, transitions and registry’s in the most beautiful tone you’ll ever hear. If an angel could come from heaven and sing, it would sound like Whitney Houston. This is why she is the voice! This is no disrespect to any other singer because their are plenty of amazing ones but Whitney is unparalleled to me because I can’t express what I feel when I hear her except on the verge of crying when I do

A Barbara Waters quote might explain what you guys meant, and many feel. “She only needs to stand and deliver. Whitney caresses her audience with a show so intimate that you feel you've witnessed the public unveiling of her soul The show is simple. Because her talent is huge. So big that there is no room left on stage for anything another than her voice.”

Listen to the way she phrases her lines. It feels like she’s talking to you, like this is an intimate conversation you’re part of, because of where she puts the emphasis and the pause. She’s not a slave to the meter, she knows exactly when to rush ahead and when to slow it down and let it breathe. And she has absolutely exquisite taste with when she chooses to employ her vocal agility, it’s never too much, it’s always just what you need. Her voice… no words. She’s just incredible.

I’m always so happy to see people react to Whitney. She simply was one of the greatest to ever do it. I was fortunate to see her in concert in 88 and 92 and 94. She was gifted and took my breath away. I always get annoyed when people are compared to her when NO ONE has ever come close. Whitney’s perfection was in live singing. No one else has ever done what she does.

You are the luckiest person in the world! The first time I saw this concert, I thought that if I had been there, I would have fainted, and her voice would have brought me back to life, only for me to faint again. I don't think I would have survived seeing a live concert of Whitney!

Let me explain to you guys what you’re trying to explain about Whitney’s voice. Whitney’s voice is what you call anointed, meaning from God! There are many people that can sing, but there are very few that are anointed. What separates Whitney from everyone else, is her ability to tell a story. Not only does she tell a story, she’s also taking you on a journey. This is why she does this better than anyone else. “Lionel Ritchie once said on Larry King years ago, “singing is about story telling, and nobody can a story like Whitney Houston.”

WOW! The use of freedom to describe a consummate professional working in their craft is PERFECTION! As a singer myself, that's what I strive for... whatever I hear and feel, I want to be able to execute it without thinking and in my mind that seems like the THE ultimate joy. And that is what comes across in Whitney. This was a joy for her. This was home. You NAILED that! EDIT: This was definitely a "Stars aligned" moment. Of course, Whitney, Whitney, Whitney... but THE BAND... KILLING... Ricky Minor and this arrangement... CRAZY! (So crazy, that apparently Whitney told him "hell no" when he pitched it to her! Hahaha!)... The camera work... BEAUTIFULLY CAPTURED! The angles and timing were IMPECCABLE... the audience! They were on their feet for 8 minutes of this 10 minute performance! I put this down as her best ever single performance. You can learn EVERYTHING you need to know about Whitney as a singer in this video.

During this time, Whitney was at the height of her career. She had a blockbuster movie, a soundtrack that was on fire. To make it better, she was the happiest she had ever been-she had given birth to her daughter and her marriage was in a good place. The interpretation of And I Am Telling You is different from the original version that Jennifer Holiday sang-Whitney was telling us that although every single person is saying she should get rid of Bobby and find someone better, she’s not leaving him..she’s staying with him. She stood there for over 10 minutes and sang these 3 big songs like it was nothing. She’s the greatest vocalist of all time.

I guess I Subscribed at the right time! 😆 - And if THIS is #5, I’d be curious to see where this is going, because for ME this is Top 3 of Whitney Live. I also like that you guys actually HEAR and acknowledge the instruments as well, because she had like a 10 piece band with everyone firing at 100% and stood at a mic with just her voice! To this day, IMO her, Patti Labelle, Prince and Beyoncé are the ONLY artists who can have a full band backing them and not get swallowed by it!
