Eurovision was so different back then. It was well on its way to being the show we know and love now a days, and this song came out of nowhere on that night to be one of my all time favourites! Ani Lorak delivered a stellar performance that year in Belgrade. Loved the production which leaned in to a dramatic disco/pop sound. The choreo to the outfit to the song itsself, it was just perfection. And i feel like its stood the test of time. And she looks gorgeous! The dress, if i remember correctly, was by Roberto Cavalli. Fun fact: Ani Lorak is actually not her name. Its Karolina, but if you reverse it, you get Ani Lorak!

The guy who did the staging is from Greece and has been going to Eurovision for years. He also did Russia 2008 who won, Azerbaijan the one you saw yesterday. He's done Russia with Sergei (the guy in white who was multiplied with screens). He even went this year too with Greece (again... He's directed Greece many times including in 2005 when Greece won... So he's been doing Eurovision for almost 20 years...)

The stage or lighting (or logo, or theme/colors, or anything, really) used to be representative of the host country's culture or values or views each year. This 2008 stage was in Serbia and the two things you referred to as 'slides' (lol!) represented the confluence of the 2 rivers in Belgrade, and that year's theme was 'Confluence of Sound'! I was there and it was great.

Hi, I have an idea for your next Eurovision weeks, by doing Eurovision weeks on certain countries. Here are the 4 countries I would like to see the most with the corresponding years (in order from 5 to 1): -France (2014, 2016, 2010, 2011, 2022) -Moldova (2011, 2017, 2022, 2010, 2018) -Finland (2010, 2014, 2018, 2013, 2021) -Estonia (2016, 2011, 2010, 2022, 2015) Having started watching Eurovision in 2010, I didn't put any songs before that date even if I know some and I normally only took songs to which you haven't reacted yet. I hope one day to see you react to one of these lists, preferably the one from my country, France.

It was one of the most popular songs from Eurovision 2008. Back then ESC fans were arguing that this song (or Greece or Armenia) should have won cause no one liked the actual winner from russia. That's why it's still one of the worst and least likable winners.

10:18 Eurovision in 2008 was in Belgrade in Serbia. Because Belgrade is on the confluence Danube and Sava rivers the stage design incorporated that idea with the two 'rivers' or led stripes along the top of the stage. Sadly, no one slid down them they were fully vertical.

Guys, thank you very much for your content and your work. It's always nice when you take and watch the contestants from Ukraine at Eurovision. so a while back there used to be a rule that backup vocals had to be on stage and be shown on camera. That´s no longer the case but that´s why she is "ignored" 😅
@SenneBBB6 ай бұрын
You can notice this a lot with pre-2015 performances. Up until that year it was required that the backing vocals were also performed on stage. There were some countries that used clever techniques to hide them, but others (like this performance) just tried to keep them out of frame. From 2015 on, it was still required to do live backing vocals, but the singers could stay backstage. Since 2021 it is allowed to use pre-recorded backing vocals, what most countries use now.
