This may be an unnecessary post, but just in case I wanted to clarify: Callum is the son of the queen BEFORE she married the king. Ezran is the child of the king and the queen. That's why Soren made jokes in the first episode about Callum being a half-prince. Amaya is the sister of the queen.

For the binding it's clear (No spoilers just may have missed/misunderstood some info). 2 bindings for 2 targets. The elves were there for the King AND the Prince. She said she was there to kill Prince Ezran in ep2. (it's why Callum initially tried to lie to protect him). The king was killed so the 1st fell off. They didn't "show" that father died cause it's a kids show, but the subtext was clear. The fact that the elf leader shot the "mission successful" arrow and that her binding turned red and fell of is proof that he's dead. That's why she looked so somber, she KNEW Ezran and Callum's father had been killed. (end of ep3) But Ezran is still alive, so she is still bound.

I would recommend reading the Bloodmoon Huntress comic to find out why Rayla is scared of water. It doesn't spoil anything for the later seasons and is just a comic showing Rayla's life when she was like maybe 7 or smth. I'd suggest maybe reading the official comics that go along with the series. One of them, called "Bloodmoon Huntress", actually has the scene of how Rayla got her fear of water. The first comic, "Through the Moon", is actually kind of recommended reading between seasons three and four of the show, as it fills in some of the context as to what happened between those seasons. Besides "Through the Moon", the other two comics don't really have spoilers in them.

There’s an explanation of Rayla’s fear of water in the graphic novel ‘Bloodmoon Huntress’ however I recommend if you do read it, that you do so later on because there are references to spoilers throughout it as you’re not caught up yet, but otherwise they don’t explain it in the series. There are a lot of side stories they made online on their website (The Dragon Prince) too for the last seasons they released, again a lot of spoilers though, so probably wait until caught up if you do read it. I absolutely adore Dragon Prince and love hearing your predictions and thoughts! Glad you’re enjoying it!

No spoilers, just commenting that I absolutely love how complicated of an antagonist Viren is. You've already seen peeks at it, and there's a lot more to look forward to in what he does and how he's motivated. It's probably the most complex antagonist we've seen from this team, and I love it. The writing team does make a few questionable and not great choices (at least in my opinion). How they handled Viren is one thing they knock out of the park.

In North America, which is where the show creators are based (American-Canadian), if the horse has all hooves down, the person riding died of natural causes/causes unrelated to the battle. If one hoof is up, the person died from battle injuries or they were wounded in battle. If two hooves are up, the person died in battle. It was already mentioned in the episode, but in case you didn't catch it: the queen's name is Sarai. Queen Sarai. I can't wait for you to learn more about her in the future. I also can't wait for you to learn more about Rayla's parents and Rayla's upbringing!!!!! You're going to hate it and love it at the same time (mostly love). Runaan (the imprisoned elf) is going to be important for later! (Like. Long-term later.) Just keep that in mind. "[Rayla]'s going to HATE the ocean [book/season]" oh you don't even know. Oh. Prepare yourself. Also! Don't forget to watch those end credits! Some are silly and fun, but some foreshadow important details for later.

Here's a couple of teasers: The bindings the elves did were for the targets that needed to die. The binding can only come off if she finishes her job. I'm not sure if the king's completely dead as I haven't finished the show (watched seasons 1-4) and Idk if some twist is revealed to have him dead but not dead. Let's just say Rayla's parents' story is... different than what she knows. I can't wait for you to see what happens with Amaya 😺

This episode was what made me fall in love with this series. I don't speak ASL, and so those untranslated sign exchanges (and especially the one with her sister's statue) weren't for me. I really like that soft exclusion, actually. Perhaps I will learn ASL and be able to read it someday, but until then, it's a private exchange between Amaya and the memory of her sister.
