The whole argument over Gabriel reminds me a lot of a memoir written by French sociologist Didier Eribon. He writes about how awful his father was. Abusive, manipulative and so on. But when his father got dementia, Didier's mother cared for him until he died. After he died, Didier asked his mother why. Why care for this man who was so awful to you for so long? And his mother essentially said that at some point, the dementia had stripped away all of the man she hated, the husband who had harmed her, and all that was left was a stranger who needed help. After the dementia, he was no longer the man who had abused her and helping him helped her too. I think there is something similar in Gabriel here. It doesn't matter to Aziraphale that Gabriel was horrible, because this isn't that Gabriel. This is somebody with nothing, who knows nothing, and needs help.

Fun fact about the tarten: the one Aziraphale uses is different than the one used in heaven. I think his tarten is exclusive to him, I think they created it for the show. I like to imagine that he was the one to create it so he's not as close to heaven as the other angels 😊 Edit: I remembered something else! Aziraphale only shared his tarten with Crowley. He has given Gabriel/Jim that tarten "outfit" but it's not his tarten, he only shares it with Crowley like in the holly water container in season 1 😄

Little fun fact!! In the Before The Beginning scene, after Crowley started to question everything and went on his whole tangent, you can see at the end of the scene, when he uses his wing to cover Aziraphale, that his wings are slightly darker already :3 (Some people thought it was lighting but when you look at everything around, its obvious his wings are really just gray, and I believe, but im not SURE, that Neil, when asked about this, said that every little detail is intentional.

Spoilers! So the box that Gabriel brings to the bookshop is actually the original Pandora's Box, in which was supposed to contain hope. However, since the box is now empty, Heaven and Hell, and also Aziriaphile and Crowley, now go in race against time to secure hope for either side to tip the scales in the conflict between Heaven, Hell, and just leaving Earth alone.

I'm so excited for you to see episode 2 because it's my favorite in the whole show, solely because of the flashback that takes up half the episode, which is just a 22 minute unbroken shot of Gabriel tap dancing.

Keep an eye open for subtle background appearances of the TARDIS in any scene with Crowley, it can be a subtle visual or audio reference, it could be as simple as the pulsing of the light on top in the background, or the ‘VWORP!’ Dematerialization sound, a chime of the Cloister bell, it’s subtle, but it’s there, it’s a running gag throughout S2.

I like the first season, pretty much entirely for Tennnat Sheen and cause I really like the book, but god damn do I love this second season. I think the big issue with the first season is that they had to force an entire novel into 6 episodes, meaning they had to rush some of the story lines just to get them in there. This second season isn't constrained by source material, and damn is it just wonderful in like every way imo.

If I remember correctly, before terry died he and Neil had plans for a second book. Only problem was it wasn't finished and was loosely created as a story. So Neil had to make this season 2 as a lead on to season 3 for what Neil and Terry had in the works before he died. This season is just leading up to it

I'm fine with Crowley being the serpent of Eden; it almost makes sense, like it's a job the Devil would outsource (or delegate, I suppose) But...creating the Universe? According to the authors, angels (and demons) don't have gender like humans. Their bodies are just like uniforms or costumes. Hence the casting team, hired women to play Archangel Michael and actresses played Lord Beelzebub both seasons. The original Beelzebub actress wasn't available to play the role again for S2 so they recast and there is even a reference to explain the change in look in the series.

@@doublelightangel Not wrong. I was fake spoilering but also soft boilering. In the books Beezle is described as a short young disheveled man with rotting hair and bugs in his teeth. So in the book Beezle is characterized as male. In season one they gave the character a very nonbinary look, but female actress much like they did Michael. I gather they're meant to be each others equals. But in season 2 they picked a more feminine actress when they weren't able to get the original actress back. Saying that, Shelley was a background character in season one as one of the nuns. They called out the face switch and you could imply the face was stolen from the human woman. So this body is very much female.

I don't buy the premise of this episode. An omnipotent all-knowing supreme being can't lose an archangel. He should be the absolute best at hide and seek among everything else. Are they saying that for the sake of this episode, Santa Claus is more informed than God. He knows when you're sleeping. He knows when you're awake ect, ect. GOD doesn't lose archangels like we lose car keys!
