If I ever use a roller on any trim I will usually tip it off with a brush. Nothing I have found leaves a better finish than just good brush skills. Weenie rollers are for rolling soffit trim on a dormer for me. Been watching your vids. Good stuff. Still liking the Graco Quickshot?

Yes tipping with the brush can smooth out the stipple but does take a lot of finesse and extra work. If you use the correct paint and thin it properly you can get a really nice sprayed “looking” finish with this technique but almost need to dry roll. You probably brushed old school oil back in the day like me so we are partial to brushing however the paints today will never lay down as good. And we definitely rock a brush and roller on the exterior trim! I’m still a big fan of the Quickshot. I’m trying to break it! So far we’ve done 68 gallons through it and hasn’t crapped out yet. Once it does I’ll do a video with the cost per gallon to purchase one.

@@mallerpaintingcompany Yeah my reasoning is I feel I can load up the paint better with more control to achieve, what I think is a better than sprayed look. Sprayed and atomized through a tip make it lose viscosity so it's hard to build a thick as with a brush. Plus if done right just looks nicer to me. I am definitely interested in how you guys do it. The new water based paints are blowing my mind how they level out like glass and if a roller is an option it wouldn't surprise me. Found a gently used Quickshot I might buy. If it can do a cabinet door or two out at the job last minute it would be a game changer form me. Good to know you like it.

Mine is the Purdy Ultra finish. It had my parents thinking we sprayed our cabinets. We used SW Emerald Urethane in Evergreen Fog.
