I think it's such a shame she isn't available as a permanent member to the team. She seems so genuinely nice and when she "joins" The Dark Urge she gives a proper reason to wanting to tag along, also there is no default bard member, so it would be neat to have one.

I turned Lae into a Wizard and put her back on the team. She is less abrasive now that she wants to jump my bones, apparently. Her voice is really good so it makes me want to keep her. People say the dark elf woman's voice is good, but it is the worst.

Finding this scene with my Bard had me in literal tears. I'm a forever DM in tabletop, but have always wanted to play a Bard who's true singular driving goal is to kindle the joy in life. Remind everyone that even in the darkest of places and times, the love and joy of people will outshine it. And this scene just fit that so perfectly.

@@petr_ix I think its also a bit uncomfortable to BE evil given the context of the story. Youre someone who initially seems to be in danger of suffering a fate worse than death, during that time is almost primed to make meaningful connections to morally "good" characters and these in need (characters like Gale, Wyll, Halsin, Karlach and the Tieflings respectively). Betraying, killing or mistreating them to Goblins etc. just doesnt seem logical if that makes sense

I was not ready to be swept off my feet while I was exploring the druid place. I am currently playing through Baldur's Gate for the first time, role playing as a peacemaking former performer turned fighter, with a love for performing arts and gently coaxing peace and people's emotions with words. It felt so damn fulfilling and inspiring and beautiful and in awe when going through her interaction as my character, listening to her story and watch those emotions turn into the final piece she was missing, an then be treated to this beautiful song and cinematic. It really was magical.

It’s actually a shame, we can’t recruit Alfira . Even playing as the Dark Urge i found a way to not kill her and save the Emerald grove with all the Druids and tieflings. Alfira was one of the reasons i picked the good Dark Urge, the redemption path :) As a regular Tav I mostly play character concepts with at least one bard level or bard as a main class. That way it’s easier in conversations as the face of the party. Fun fact: As a bard you can skip the whole instrument learning part and directly help Alfira with her song 🎸 Last time i had just Gale with me in that scene. After helping Alfira he started his „I’ve grown to trust you“ talk, which starts his personal quest line. Perfect timing as I intended to romance him anyway ❤

It's moments like this in video games that really set the great games apart from the basic, beat a quest, get a powerful weapon type stuff. Lohse's Song in Divinity 2, Priscilla's song in Witcher 3, and Alfira in Baldur's Gate 3, my only wish would be for Alfira to have been involved in a side quest that spanned all 3 acts of the game. Dont get me wrong because the song and scenes are beautiful, but it would feel greater if maybe in Act 1 you help her perfect the melody, then Act 2 the lyrics, and finally in Act 3 you earn the performance of the song.

I wonder how many great things I missed in this game. On my first playthrough as a Paladin, I didn't succeed the dice rolls helping her with her song and didn't bother. On my second playthrough as a dark urge bard, I succeeded to help her and was blown away by this song. So happy she wants to join me in camp now.

The Grove must survive, the game is insanely punishing for players who go down the wrong path. Minthara is a weak patch for the three companions, the destroyed Grove and the impossibility of removing the curse from the landscape in the second act, she ends up basically driving Shadowheart insane if you continue down the evil path before fighting Ketheric. The game is completely uncompromising in this and does not forgive anything.

I never got this scene. Ive only seen her at camp when we were celebrating victory from killing the goblins and she was too drunk to sing. Then i saw her in Act 2 at an inn. Then there was that time at camp when I played Dark Urge.

Me seeing this cutscene for the first time made me fall in love with Alfira. But then I remembered that I couldn't recruit her in my party, which infuriated me enough to want to do a Dark Urge run using her face and name and then murder her and steal her clothes, except when I killed her I could only take the stupid lutes, so I deleted that playthrough, instead I'll just have that other dragonborn character die in her place so I can listen to it entirely. But like, the only way to play Alfira is to make a tiefling bard character just like her, which is possible in the character creation, you just can't have her clothes though. But closest thing you can get to her being a member is literally making her doppelganger with her name and then play it in her stead. Still she's my favorite NPC in the game.

Have watched it many times since the EA, have never once skipped it, although for some reason sometimes her voice sounds super muffled, not the instruments though, wonder if it has somethign to do with occlusion and character position although should be right on her face
