Well... it actually is. Emo was short for "emotional" and actually meant something at one point. Now it just means any stupid hardcore music with whiny lyrics. This is the precursor to emo rock music, with its super emotional lyrics and vocal delivery. Emo music then fused with hardcore and is Screamo. Just like how Black Sabbath or Kiss aren't even remotely "metal" by today's standards, they were back then, and are undoubtedly the godfathers of heavy metal.
