Chord progressions on pop music are not that hard to figure out, once you get used to recognizing chord changes to learn a song you start to automatically notice those same patterns in other songs. As Rivers said, there's only so many chords.

Aside from the solo's which are always impeccable, Weezer's music just seems more straight forward. I'll have to go back and listen to a bunch of it again, now that I'm more interested in theory.

These two are real gentlemen. Even if they don't like the music you can see they are actually listening to each song and trying to solve the technical parts of how the artist/band composed it. They look for the music in the music and always focus on the positive. In another episode you could tell they weren't into the Kelly Clarkson song, but Rivers said "Man, I wish I could sing like that." Real musicians!
