. . .interesting. . . I love hearing demos like this, it's fun to hear the concepts they were considering.

I’d say this is a case of more is less, like it’s heavier, but it actually feels like there’s less soul than in the album release. The album version was slower and really had some dynamics, so everything could breath and the tension could really build unlike in this where it’s flat angry all the way through.
@likeyoung5243 жыл бұрын
Yeah but this version would rock live

Yeah I think demos like these more just serve to demonstrate general song structure etc. Ric Ocasek really did a great job producing the final album.

Such a different sound! This is most likely recorded with the original guitar player Jason Cropper on guitar and backing vocals as well as the original bass player Matt Sharp. The story goes that Cropper's guitar and vocals were erased from the blue album recording and dubbed over with Rivers guitar and Brian Bells vocals last minute before mixing and mastering.
@ChrisPBacon-xn9up7 жыл бұрын
Shane Valcich Well, Matt Sharp did sing on the final release of the album

Matt was in the band until 1997/8

Matt Sharp died of an overdose in his Chicago hotel room I thought a few years after replacing the original drummer.

This isn't the take done for the blue album, though, it's a totally different recording.

Weezer Trivia This track comes off what is known as the "Third Demo" tape, recorded in November 1992 with 4 other songs from The Blue Album on it. About 275 tapes were made and circulated. The studio album was released in 1995, 3 years after this was recorded.

Saying this isn't produced is a bit of a falacy, since there's no record saying that this was or wasn't produced in some way. Since Rivers had experience in media recording previously (and even took a class in it) it's safe to say that there was some attention to detail put in recording the guitars and bass. The drums, however, seem to be a different story, but whatever.

Patrick on the drums were way intense and it kinda sounds the same with Brian bell instead of Jason cropper and rivers might’ve been in the performance.

album version was stripped of the emotion, this version is amazing and powerful
@sam8404 Жыл бұрын
Not that this isn't great but I think the album version had more emotion. This version is a bit too fast and has too much going on in comparison.
