jordan blakeley Thats not freese. Freese is blonde and a lot older. Freese was the normal drummer for weezer for a part of time. Rivers wanted to be free on stage so pat took the guitar and freeze took the drums

I always laugh at people who get upset at covers. It might be better, it might be worse, but it's different. Like those dippy "Idol" judges say - you've got to "make it your own". So if the cover is poorly done, that's one thing. But if it is simply different from the version you're used to, that's something else. And given the tendency of artists to release covers of other people's hit songs, if you wait long enough, your favourite tunes will be on the radio again, as someone else's cover.

@TheMDovellos They do not have to consent to a live performance - venues pay an annual fee to an organization which then compensates those artists whose songs get covered most frequently regionally or nationally (I'm not an expert in the process so I don't fully understand) but basically Coldplay could hate this and nothing would happen as long as the venue (and youtube, theoretically) pay the agencies which they need to. Go research copyright law before you call people "shitface" sir.

Stop saying "X version is better then Y version." People don't appriciate that there can be more then one version. In Japanese culture, for example, 12 artist will each do their own rendition of a single song, and guess what? They ENJOY that diversity. Alt rock version? CHECK. Country Version? Check. Pop version? CHECK. It's a way to expand the horizon in music, it's seriously not Competition. American artist are JUST now starting to do this, but we are so into...competition, its going badly.

But they just get worse and worse I mean I thought the red album was okay and ratitude wasn't that bad but hurley just pisses me off. Weezers most recent albums haven't been up to par with their original stuff, a lot of it seems by the numbers, amongst their last three or four albums have been some gems but no real classic albums like Blue and Pink. Then again, when you have albums like that under your belt you could make shit for the rest of your career and still be looked upon as great. Coldplay are hardly likely to make anything other than songs for Blackberry adverts.

@topoyis - i know for the last two 2 two tours they had a Touring drummer with them. Patrick was pulling double duties of drums and guitar. They were all rocking the same outfits on stage for a few a while as well. I know they had Josh Freese (amazing drummer) out with em for a while, not sure if that's him or not though.
