Emily! Vaulting goes back to the Romans. They did it as one of their games. Truly been around for 1000's of years. So it is truly a great sport! Imagine trying to do gymnastics on a couple of balance beams moving around and around and up and down.

yes big ones...the total score consists of preformance, impression, content, and the horse so if the horse breaks it's gate then horse horse score will have points deducted...i hope this helps

I love how everyone was telling Victoria about not using reins! Honestly my third coach made me start my horse with no reins. whatsoever. my first and 4th coaches had ALL of us start vaulting before we started jumping and dressage. Just for the simple fact if you need reins to control your horse, then you have no trust in your horse therefore it's not a true bond. i can do level 3 dressage moves with no reins just sayin. its all in the seat.

Vaulting is a equine sport performed in a different style then say jumping or dressage, but regardless each of the performers are reacting to the horses movements while being poised and artful themselves. I have never vaulted nor do i ever plan to but i respect the performers and their art.

Emily, I grew up vaulting and eventing (still event) and I can tell you vaulting is far more difficult. Additionally, vaulters make better riders, more balance, better seat, better connection with the horse and they always land on their feet. If my daughter wants to ride, she will be required to vault as well. It will make her a safer rider! You should give it a try, than maybe you won't be so critical.

I have a question. If the horse breaks rhythm, does the team lose points?
@ellajohannes73717 жыл бұрын
Yes, I believe (at least on my level), the horse is also given a score out of ten and that is combined and multiplied on different aspects of the routine as well. The horse's score is based off of behavior, how hard they are to vault on (a bouncier trot will be given a higher score because they are harder to vault on as opposed to a small horse with a smooth trot which would get a lower score), and the rhythm of their strides and points are deducted if the horse breaks gait. To make things simple, yes it affects the team's performance and placing. :)

a horse and rider who need to have reins lack training. If you have to ride with reins what happens if you drop a rein or a rein breaks and you and your horse aren't well trained? It becomes a dangerous situation very quickly that's what. A beginner knows how to ride a horse with reins, a skilled rider can ride with body, voice, and reins.

if you are talking about the side reins, those are required for competition

you are showing your ignorance, reins have nothing to do with riding skill, and for poor riders they are a necessity for those who lack real skill.
