I finally have this guy in hand, and I can honestly say he is hands down the most beautiful figure I've ever seen. Nothing else in my collection even comes close. He really does look like one of those extremely detailed $300 statues of Movie Prime that doesn't transform, except he does and pulls it off amazingly. He makes me want to put my RotF Buster Prime into storage and throw my Movie 1 Leader Prime in the trash; he's that awesome. For anyone on the fence, GET THIS FIGURE. He is a true Masterpiece Transformer in every sense of the word and is in my opinion the quintessential Movie figure that embodies all the best qualities of Bay-verse Transformers.

4 years later and this is still one of my favorite movie based figures ever made. Sure the newer stuff is more accurate but this streamlined design is just so visually appealing to me, I often prefer it. In a few years after the dust has settled with all the mpm releases and people can actually see things with more prospective, this figure will end up being very highly valued by those that still have it and those that will be trying to pick one up.

I think it’s fair to have Bayverse Optimus bigger than MP G1 Optimus since Bayverse Transformers are larger than their G1 Counterparts. I’ve also caved in and order this one a couple days ago.

Can this even be called a knockoff? Its more of an evolution or redesign of a decent transformer. It's what hasbro should be doing when they didn't quite get it right the first time.

Yes it can be called a knockoff. Because that's what it is. Its not officially licenced by either Hasbro or Tamara, so its a knockoff. Albeit very good, and probably the best Optimus Prime that has ever been made. But still a knockoff.

The original Hasbro design was revolutionary, especially with the way the sides of the truck mode fold 180 degrees on the z-axis. Wei Jiang takes the original song and does a brilliant cover, so to speak. I got the figure, and it's FANTASTIC. Intimidating and large, but it's PERFECT. The rubber tires really sell the quality, and there's a ton of cool tricks that hide his robot mode AND enhance it. Buy the original if you can; it's a great budget figure. But this also belongs on the shelf next to MP-36 Megatron.

The original design was created by takara (japan) not hasbro (us). Without Takara, Hasbro would not be able to design any cool looking transformers.

Bennnn!!!! Do you realise that the weapons seem similar? The shield is the ufo glory shield that you reviewed. The blades are also based off ufo knifes. And the axe was actually in silver by ufo too. It seems like wei jiang is combining all the awesome weapons with a figure and great as this for one awesome package. Kudos to them.

I have already discovered the perfect figures to display him with just by watching various comparisons and videos of figures and comparing them to other figures. Display him with Leader Class Ironhide, Human Alliance Bumblebee and Jazz, and Voyager Ratchet. From the various comparisons and videos I found out that he scales PERCETLY with them. And once I do get him I plan on leaving my Buster Prime in Truck mode next to him while the other autobots stand around him, with Sam in front looking up at them. I shall have them posed to recreate the scene where they first met in the first movie, and I will only be missing Mikaela! : D

Hey Ben I have a question for you. Every time I transform this guy to truck mode, I can't seem to get it 100% right. The cab ends up leaning backwards a bit, making it look like it is "sunk in" in the middle of the truck. No matter what I try, the cab ends up not being straight and level. I thought that adjusting the legs would help, but when the cab straightens out, only two of the four rear wheels touch the ground. Can you help me out?

now this is worthy of a repaint just need the tlk version of optimus and it would be worth it, the voyager evasion is good but not cutting it, 2014 leader class was too kibbley and bulky, voyager for tlk is perfect minus the arms which are not the ones he has in the ending of aoe and tlk

Found one in stock on eBay yay! As for the front not sitting flush on yours and the wheel issues I highly recommend datterboy's You Tube videos on this figure, especially No.3 out of 5 that has very in depth transformation instructions and tips to get a perfect truck mode. I am a product designer and motorcycle mechanic and have a feeling datterboy is an engineer due to his higher than average grasp of mechanics. You videos are certainly more fun but his are worth a watch to get the best out of this figure from what I can see.

Fantastic, Your review just sold me.. I totally want! great Review! I saw this and your oversized MPP Optimus review. I am definitely getting that! My only complaint is there is no Molded Autobot Symbol for this version, but If you or someone else know where to find something to glue, or a sticker that would work, please let me know. The Leader of the Autobots should have an Autobot symbol on his chest. Also, tho I like the swords, they could have made a feature that had the swords plug into the sides of the arm, giving him the look of it coming out from there, as I really prefer him having them come out from the forearm, they the hand held versions.. Maybe they will release a kit that has the swords molded to fit the arms. The only other problem I have is the elbow joint.. I wish they would have made the ratchet joint a bit higher, so the arms could be lowered, however it still is a fantastic KO piece, and definitely worth being added to my collection. It is the perfect cross between the movie Prime, and the classic truck from G-1 and since Prime is voiced by Peter Cullen, it makes it all the more real to me! Love the review, keep it up!

You're forgetting that Hasbro did the main figure Wei Jiang made it bigger and tidied it up, but Hasbro's done the main design part The Takara designers were also constrained to the Voyager Class budget, while Wei Jiang had the budget for the extra moulds/paint apps

Just a friendly reminder to all this is a KO figure. I got mine it had a metric f@ckton of issues, misaligned pins, broken hinges and the worst offender of all f@cking floppy piece of sh11t right arm that cant even go up without flopping down. To top it of i got misb, just my f@cking luck i guess
