oh devastating... the whole last half really made me realise that jiang cheng tries to hide it but what he's really saying is 'i needed you, i thought you'd always be there, you promised you'd always be there, you promised and you left me' and now i need to lie down

I know! Jiang Cheng makes me so sad. I think he would have been upset under any circumstances of Wei Ying choosing the Wens over him, but I think what hurt him most was that Wei Ying never acknowledged the broken promise. I think it made him feel like he didn't matter, compounding with all the emotional abuse he received from his parents and the pressure on him to always measure up to Wei Ying. I think if Wei Ying had acknowledged it earlier, that could have helped things between them. But I've always felt so sympathetic for Jiang Cheng. He wasn't properly loved and supported by his parents, then lost his whole clan in one fell swoop, lost his core, had to become a sect leader far too young with too little experience, and then had no power or clout to stand on in the face of the three more powerful clans, leaving him having to take action very carefully to protect his sect and people, leaving him unable to defend Wei Ying even though I think deep down he wanted to, despite his own mixed feelings about the Wens. And then he lost both his siblings in the same day, leaving him completely alone except for his infant nephew whom he loves dearly but then also had to struggle to figure out how to raise with little to no experience.

@@ShadowsintheEyes God, the way you summarized the whole thing was marvelous.....I don't understand why some would hate Jiang Cheng or not like him. He lost his mom, dad, sister, and had to become a leader at a young age and people expected him to be like "hey wei wuxian bro, how are you"......like no you all got to put yourself in his shoes, Jiang Cheng had every right to be angry at Wei Wuxian, yes it's not wei wuxian fault 100% but he was also involved in some ways. If Wei Wuxian had always minded his business and never got involved with other clans, then everything that happened would not have happened. I don't understand why people were confused or mad at his character because he was angry at wei wuxian, like put yourself in his shoes...........he had to become a leader with no experience and then everyone keeps reminding him of how Wei Wuxian was always better than him in everything.......I mean Wei Wuxian is not even his blood brother so of course he would be angry......Jiang Cheng is actually my second favorite character from the movie after Wei Wuxian.

@@jamiubts8265 Jiang cheng also sacrifice himself to save Wei ying from Wen Soldiers that's the reason Wen zhuliu crushed his golden core. Wen zhuliu also found out Wei ying has no Golden core anymore when i attacked him to his chest. Actuay the writer did very well in this movie if Wei ying did not give his Golden core to Jiang cheng, his golden core will crushed by Wen zhuliu as well. That time Wei ying is not that powerful even if he help Madam Yu all of them will die. Wei Ying become the founder of demonic cultivator and practice it becauase he wants to revenge and protect Jiang cheng and Yan li. If Jiang cheng didn't have a Golden core, he will suffer from depression as if he is a living dead and Wei ying doesn't want it to happen. Eveb if Weiying doesn't have a golden core he is still the most powerful among the 5 clans. Jiang Cheng cannot do that. Wei Ying can have Golden core in Mo xuanyu body. He can still use sword in the future even if it takes time. Wei ying has Lan zhan his husband but Jiang cheng only has Jin ling. I wish he can find a wife. Hoping for season 2 but I know it won't happen.

This is an excellent tribute to how hard they tried not to let circumstances tear them apart.

the worst of it all has to be nobody seeing it from jiang cheng's perspective, even till the end, he wasn't able to say he sacrificed it all for wei ying too. he lost everything too. It's proof of how the harsh looking ones always feel the most and are misunderstood the most. what a tragedy.

Jiang cheng loves Wei ying so.much, He is just angry because Wei ying doesn't want to stay in Lotus Pier and keep helping other people and always play a hero. He always care for Wei ying whenever Wei ying was hurt and in pain, he wants to help him but he cannot because he also wanta to protecr his clan. When Wei ying return after 16 yrs, Jiang cheng got mad, instead of Wei ying go baxk to lotus pier and see him, Lan zhan found him and bring him back to Gusu. Also, Jiang chengs dislike when Wei ying still connected to Wen Ning. All Jiang cheng wants oa for Wei ying to stay in Lotus pier witj him and stay out from trouble. As Wei ying promise they will be "The pride brothers of Yunmeng" (something like that) still he loves his brother. The problem with Jiang cheng he has no guts to stay by Wei ying side in darkness because he was still young that time and easy to manipulate by other elder clan leaders who likes control people's mind. We cannot blame Jiang Cheng.
