I bought one. It cuts and collects really well but you really feel the weight, especially if you are knocking on a bit like me! It's also got a very long wheelbase so scalps quickly if the lawn is not level. It's sweet spot is on larger flat lawns when you want a fairly short cut. You did well getting it round those tight spaces! Anyway I gave it to my son who soon managed to destroy the blade brake clutch! To save a very expensive replacement I bought a new friction plate off eBay and stuck it on with an epoxy glue - still going strong after three more seasons. He also uses normal fuel and leaves it in over winter so I have had to clean or replace the carb a couple of times. Easy enough. It still runs and cuts well but then it's only used once a week at most I replaced it with a Honda HRX476 which is much lighter but not as good

Great video, very helpful. I'm old school and like the striped look, but my 17 year old Honda HRD 53QXE is on its last legs and I'm looking for a replacement. Quite tempted by a Weibang like yours, but a bit concerned about the weight as some of our grass slopes in two directions at once. How do you think it would cope with that? 😀
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much Graeme 😄. It does really well for striping and leaves a great cut. Struggles on the long wet stuff so you have to take it down to speed 1 to get a clean bag. Other than that it bags well any other condition. I really don’t think it will struggle, it’s a quick enough mower, really not hard to handle once you get it on the turf, took me by surprise that part, I don’t think you will have an issue on the slopes, obviously depending how severe 😄

Hi, after watching your review, I bought a 4 year old machine the same as yours and just thought I'd let you know I'm very pleased with it! Despite being 10kg heavier than my old Honda, it drives up the slopes on our lawn better than it did. Leaves a good even cut and picks up well. Picks up drive much more smoothly than the Honda too. Hope it lasts as long as the Honda did! 😀

Good review. From speaking to dealers they always sell the standard 48 pro and never the BBC spec. Due to the non BBC having the friction disc and recons it helps collection. They also find after a few months the roller weibangs fall apart where the 4 wheel ones don’t. 65kg for a 19” mower is insane. The prostripe I use daily is 22” cut. Same engine. BBC. 3 speed and that’s 66kg. I could be wrong but from memory their BBC you push forward and pull the bar (as you showed) but I think you can release it a little bit to release the pressure from the spring, so it’s easier on your hands? Might be a sticker somewhere.
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! And thank you for commenting, yeah probably why I got a decent deal with it. After using it through the last couple weeks of very wet weather it really do struggle in the wet.. not the engine but the collection, especially if it is long. The cut and finish any other time is brilliant, just collection is poor. I enquired about a high lift blade and the Weibang also stated they found in testing that it caused problems with the clutch? Which is annoying as I think that may just sort the problem. Definitely a heavy machine although I’m getting used to it now, a 22” would just simply be too big for my requirements I believe, although that pro stripe looks brilliant, ive seen your stuff 💪🏽.

I’ve used this mower for a few seasons now, only issue I’ve had is the drive cable went but it’s been solid since. Yes release the bar slightly after engaging and it releases the pressure which is definitely required.

Can I ask what your thoughts are a year on. I am after a rear roller, do you still like it, would you buy it again. Many thanks. Rob.👍🏻
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Hi rob ! I still really like this mower, looking forward to getting it used again this season💪🏽 Only main thing that annoys me which I didn’t know at the time of the video, collection of long wet grass (9-12”+) is more of a no go.. chute gets blocked up quick, what i have found though is that if on rough conditions you mow on slowest speed this is greatly approved. 2nd negative: When cutting wet grass (and still raining) a lot of clippings get stuck between the roller and frame, so when you turn it basically builds up at the turn point, there have been occasions where I have had to use the blower to break these up. Overall the rest of the time it’s a brilliant mower and I do love it, if you have plenty of 120m/2+ gardens you’ll be in your element!

Crikey mate my toro commercial is 60kg and that wrecks me these days 😅the fj180v is cracking engine though, easy to maintain. Stens do great value replacement filters on ebay. Have seen these weibang and wondered what they were like. I think with any rear rolled mower you will always be in for a ride. Even the high end hondas the rear roller ongoing replacement costs is phenomenal. Some of the best mowers are toro and husqvarna. 551sp was a phenomenal mower and the small one like you have is great too. Had mine 7 years and all it needed was a governor spring
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul! Yeah exactly 😂 once it’s on the lawn you wouldn’t be able to tell, but any form of lifting you soon realise lol. Yeah really your hoping it lasts, Weibang has the 3 year commercial warranty that’s what confirmed the decision for me. That small husqy is great but the SP keeps going. Maybe just a bit to much heavy use for the type of mower it is.. other than that it’s fantastic !

I'm considering one of these, do you ever fold the handles for storage? If so how easy is it and does it negatively affect the cables? (stretch)
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Hi there Robert thanks for commenting ! So far I don’t believe it does affect the cables, I have had them folded down over the winter for storage, very easy to do, it’s just a quick release lever rather than a screw like knob
