Thank you for this very educative video. Please at what age can we begin to give them the natural dewormer(s)?
@Cree_Money Жыл бұрын
As soon as they hatch. "Magic Water" is water, honey, garlic and apple cider vinegar. Big chicken farmers (Joe Salatin) swear this water mixture cuts hatchling death from 10% to under 5%. 1/20 dead chicks instead of 1/10. I hatched 15 chickens last year. Gave them all "magic water" and all 14 out of 15 were healthy. Diatomaceous earth is crushed fossils. It's just like fine sand. Safe to add to food from day 1! (Warning: Diatomaceous earth is DANGEROUS to breathe in. The dust WILL cause damage to your lungs. Simply avoid clouds of the stuff and you will be fine! Note: Diatomaceous earth is considered THE SAFEST AND MOST EFFECTIVE natural anti-parasite available. The fossils attach to and pierce the exoskeletons of BUGS. Then the bugs dehydrate and die. D.E. is safe for human and animal consumption.)

Welcome. So for broilers start in the grower phase and for the layers at the start of laying. The good thing about these natural dewormers is that they not only eliminate worms but also have other beneficial effects on the chicken. Thank you for your question.

Measure the weight of the 5 gallons of the pellets then calculate the 2% of that total weight of the pellets, the number you get is the amount of the Diatomaceous Earth to use. Thank you.

How do I determine 2% of Diatomaceous Earth is in a gallon feeder or pumpkin seed powder? Thank you!
@PoultryInsider.Africa Жыл бұрын
Good question, the 2% of the diatomaceous Earth or the pumpkin powder is usually 2% of the total ration. You take total kgs of the feed that you want to give to your chicken then calculate 2% of that to get the amount to add. For example if you're feeding 100 kgs of feeds to your chicken you're going to add 2kgs of Diatomaceous Earth. Thank you for your question.

Chickens can have yogurt? I thought chickens could not digest dairy?
@alisongilbert8902 Жыл бұрын
Yoghurt is pre-digested dairy
@PoultryInsider.Africa Жыл бұрын
Yoghurt contains lactic acid. Lactic acid is produced due to the breakdown of nutrients in milk especially lactose by a bacteria called lactobacillus. The digestion problem is hence solved and the lactic acid helps to clear worms.

Thank you for this information but why your giving measurements in percentage?
@PoultryInsider.Africa3 ай бұрын
To convert the percentages to the amount you need to add into the feeds use this formula. [(Percentage/100 X 1000) = Amount to add per 1 kg of feed]. For example if I was to add garlic powder at a rate of 2% I would take [2/100 x 1000 = 20]. Therefore from this calculation I would add 20 grams of the garlic powder into each Kg of the chicken feed.

If I want to deworm my broiler with ginger at want age and dosage
@PoultryInsider.Africa3 ай бұрын
Symptoms of worms in chicken start to emerge in chicken at about 2 months of age whereby by the time the broiles hit that age they will already be sold for consumption. However if you rear broilers beyond this period it is recommended that you deworm them.

Or you could dose your flock with Flubenvet and have worm free chickens without resorting to quackery.
@vumba1331 Жыл бұрын
What quackery? On what basis do you make that remark?
@thomashogan9196 Жыл бұрын
Some say ACV with the "mother" can add nutrients to the chicken and increase gut health, though others associate it with sour crop. DE in the coop and dust baths will help with external parasites, but DE works by slicing and desiccating the parasites, and to do this DE must be dry, and the inside of a chicken isn't dry. No studies back up feeding DE as therapeutic, but pumpkin seeds have been shown to possibly impact some internal parasites. ACV, external DE and healthy diet keep chickens stronger, but a major infection requires ivermectin or fenbendazole to save the birds.
