It is great that more people of every size show themselves exercising. I am large too. I think many smaller people believe large people do not exercise at all. We need more role models representing us larger people, who are trying to get healthier and be consistent with our exercising.

This is awesome. I too want to lose 100lbs. How did you do it?
@TheVhernandez004 жыл бұрын
@@rhodahariga2271 ngl, I had bariatric surgery back in 2010 and it helped BUT the rest is up to you. YOU CAN GAIN IT ALLLLLLLLL BACK and then MORE, even with the surgery. The surgery is not a cure, but it is a tool. It has helped me with my eating habits because it trained to me to stop overeating because if i overeat, i will get sick or if i have sugar, i will get sick. But after a while, the body will adjust and a lot of people go back to their old eating habits and gain all the weight back. I don't care how much you cut your stomach or whatever, to me (with or without surgery), it was all the same. Active lifestyle (exercise) and healthy eating habits and CICO is the way to go. Hell, even still to this day (10 yrs later and 2 kids later) I'm still struggling to get to my goal weight (damn my short stature of 5'2"). PLEASE NOTE I'm NOT trying to convince anyone to have the surgery, nor am i speaking bad about it, but I'm speaking from my personal experience. However, in saying that, would i have the surgery again? Absolutely NOT! Again, don't get me wrong, the surgery has it benefits and you will lose weight (and also, you can have some trouble with absorbing vitamins because of the kind of surgery you have) but ultimately, when it comes down to losing the weight and keeping it off (with or without surgery) is diet and exercise and this is the only way I'm able to keep those 100 lbs I lost off. Yes, the surgery did help kick things off, but I've gained weight after the surgery and no, it wasn't from my pregnancies. My body adjusted and I was totally ABLE to go back to my old eating habits of eating junk food and sugar. I stopped exercising and was totally ignoring my tool and not listening to my body. I made myself sick. I was not being active and not eating healthier or watching my caloric intake. Once I got back to an active lifestyle and healthier habits, I started feeling stronger and feeling better. I had to because of my kids. They want me to go down that slide and chase them around the playground. Yes, I had the surgery and, and it wasn't a cure for weight loss, even though this is what the doctor told me before the surgery and I didn't believe him. Iknew Iwas not going to gain weight becasue they are shrinking my stomach, so how can i?? Pfffft... yes you can gain it. I still have to watch what I eat and be mindful of eating and fullness and exercise. I know a lot of people who have had the surgery 10 yrs ago and they are right back where they started today. It doesn't matter. April is doing it! She's becoming active and eating right and has a great and positive outlook on things! You need this when trying to lose weight. You can do it! YOu've got this!!

I've maintained a 50 lb weight loss for nearly 10 years. And since quarantine, I've lost an additional 30 lbs. Here's my tips: 1. Reconcile that you will have to actively work on your health for the rest of your life. It's not your fault, it's just the way you are made. But be proactive about the cards you were dealt. 2. I believe that those that gain weight easily or struggle to loose weight have food sensitivities, and the body processes foods differently than those that are naturally fit/slim. Again, no one's fault. But eating very, very clean, keeping processed food out of your diet is essential. Bread is a processed food (sorry, it is) 3. Healthy habits are sustainable if they are realistic, attainable and accessible. Make the time for self care and movement, and enjoy whatever you're doing. No shame in modifying! (April, I'm talking to you :-)) 4. Every moment is an opportunity to start over. Accept setbacks with grace, compassion and dignity. And start over... not tomorrow, right now. 5. Do this because you love yourself and want to take care of yourself... not ever because you're not happy. Happiness is not on the other side of some number on the scale.... Happiness comes from within. Find your self love and happiness, and the journey to health will be easier.

I've been on this journey multiple times. I've tried every diet under the sun and have lost over 100 lbs twice in my life, only to gain it ALL back. I completely understand the anxiety you talk about surrounding regaining the weight. I used to wake up in a panic thinking I had eaten too much that day and hadn't burned enough calories. I would get out of bed from a dead sleep to get on the treadmill to work out. It was a horrible, unhappy existence! The only thing that changed how I am able to lose and keep the weight off was serious therapy. I had to work on the deeper issue that were being masked by food. I am over 50 years old. My highest weight was approximately 300 lbs (never weighed myself much) I am currently, 164 lbs, and have maintained this weight with minor fluctuations for 10 years. I applaud you, and will continue rooting for you always!!

This was a great video! I spent years in shame doing things that you described (or avoiding them) because I was overweight and wish so much I had had the attitude and rational thinking that you have now. I was thinking about it, and as if you read my mind you said it, but you will look back in several years and be soooooo so happy and proud that you recorded this process and not only that but you will already be having such a positive impact on others right now. I'm proud of you and I don't think you should feel any shame seeing yourself do yoga for exampe (although as someone who was in a similar position, I can still 100% relate 😅). It’s me again! Just wanted to check back in with you all again with my weight loss/self-confidence journey. I’m still about the same weight as last week, but that does not concern me much. Most importantly, I feel proud of myself for exercising more everyday, using willpower to eat more smart, and maintaining good mental and physical hygiene. I still allow myself to snack on the occasional junk food, but I always do it within moderation (except for one day where I had Burger King. I felt horrible afterwards, and I really regret it- keeping myself accountable, using it as a learning point). I feel so strong and so motivated! Looking in the mirror isn’t so bad as it was before. 14.4lbs down- so proud of you! You’re looking amazing, absolutely radiant. See you next week! Taking your thoughts on shame and putting them into my practice, I want to embrace my journey further by writing down my weight here. 2 weeks ago (morning): 285lbs This morning: 276lbs!!!

I hate to see a label on a piece of clothing that says "One size fits all". It doesn't and neither does a diet plan or lifestyle choices. You are doing what is right for you and it is working for you. Each person can find the plan that works for them and as long as its not some off the wall plan that harms them, they should get to do their own thing. (I have not watched his video evaluation but I might) I love the lessons I am learning from you. Start living and enjoying your life NOW and not when you reach some certain number on a scale. Wear the cute work out clothes if you enjoy them. Enjoy your life as you are and accept where you are so you can move forward Find a plan that works for you and be consistent. Express yourself through the things that make you happy and feel special.... pretty clothes, earrings, etc... If you like it, go for it. Don't be ashamed to be honest about yourself. Its ok to feel a little embarrassed or afraid.... but do it anyway and it will get easier and you will be proud of your accomplishments. I dont know if you have ever seen the movie "What about Bob" but this pops in my head often. Bob is afraid to do everything so they tell him to take a vacation from his problems by taking Baby steps. If you havent seen the movie its funny and a good movie to watch. I can't run a mile but I can baby step it and maybe some day I can baby run it until I can flat out do it. But I am baby steppin my weight loss, one ounce at a time.

Hi Love! Just a tip for meal prepping, I wouldn’t recommend doing meal prep for any fresh veggies or fruit, because once you cut any fresh vegetable or fruit, after leaving it in the fridge for sometime, the nutritional value goes down significantly than when you eat it whole or defrosting it from the freezer. Just a way to have more nutrients ❤️

I personally can't track calories because I forget to input them into the app and then if I'm over calories I just throw in the towel and just eat whatever. I instead work out a meal plan ahead of time that sits at a good number of calories and just stick to it, so that way I don't have to keep track every day.

I find you really inspiring. I've tried to lose weight many many times, but it gets hard whenever I get a bit more depressed, due to stress and shame, and events happening in my life. Thanks to you, whenever I feel a little bit more sad or feeling like giving up, listening to your calm voice, watching your progress and your positivity, really makes me think twice and keep going. Thank you really much!!

I didn’t agree with Every Damn Day that calorie counting is an unsustainable crutch. I eat a lot of the same things all the time, so calorie counting is easy, and I plan to keep doing it. I love your channel, way to go!

I don’t think calorie counting is unsustainable either, I have tracked over several months and eventually I can do it in my head cuz of repeated menus.. it’s almost a way to teach yourself intuitive eating when you’ve lost that ability imo ... I think Alan meant that it shouldn’t be used as a crutch but I don’t think he thinks it’s always a crutch
@mariasdecoranddiy21024 жыл бұрын
I also think it can become a crutch for people that have ocd tendencies but it’s not something to be worried about for most people

I think the idea of sticking to a 'certain daily calorie count' is unsustainable but the act of keeping yourself accountable by logging the food you eat and at least being aware of the average calories and macros you consumed in a span of a week is more than enough. + checking in with how you feel in terms of energy levels, satiety and how you happy you still look in your current body. I do not feel bad anymore on days that I go over my target (1900 calories) and have made amazing progress this way. I also stopped binge eating because of this. Turns out i just have the urge to eat a lot because i wasnt eating enough. I can say my dieting sweet spot is 1800-1900 and my optimum performance calories is 2000-2100. Eating 2400 just makes me want to skip a meal. Funny how the simple act of keeping a food diary makes you know more about yourself.
@mariasdecoranddiy21024 жыл бұрын
CJ Plick I don’t think it should be a daily limit necessarily, it could be a weekly limit etc but for people who binge eat and compulsively overeat, I think it’s almost impossible to get a loss in without imposing some kind of limit .. I know for me as a binge eater it’s like that. I could track and still eat 5000 calories if I’m not holding myself accountable.

Thank you for sharing your life and journey, I have recently just started my weight loss journey a couple of months ago. And I’m watching you talk about shame and oh my heart aches and is healing with you through that conversation. Shame has been on a loud speaker in my life and even today, and wow did I need to hear that to literally get out of bed! 😔 I hide too, I run too, so you’re not alone in that at all and as al of this watching you and as I’ve gone on this journey and am 3 months in, My life is becoming less shame filled, but today got me, and so your message is timely, honest and real!!’ What a blessing and a gift you are! You’re inspiring in so many ways! Thank you for your bright light!

Also, I think what you said about shame is very important. I think it's important to realise when we get into that state first, observe it, then try understand where this feeling is coming from (and not beat yourself up for feeling shame) (most of the times it's something we learned and this can be unlearned) and then be kind to ourselves. Like you said it's partly a choice to say something nice to yourself and to ALLOW yourself to be happy despite of the things that made you feel ashamed in the first place. Because everyone deserves that. Happiness and growth comes from a positive place, not from shame. We don't have to beat ourselves up, we can be kind to ourselves :)

I have the same feelings. When I watch back my workouts on my channel I feel sad the way i look and I feel "shame" but when I do it I feel so amazing and like a strong woman. I share it because it's good for me and I don't want to hide anymore. I share it because I want to help others not feel that same way about themselves. I am tired of feeling the "bad" and "shame" about myself. Thanks for sharing yours! It helps me to keep sharing mine. I am over that feeling. I want to be free of that! Thanks for being awesome!!!!

It’s weird 🤔 I’ve always heard salt contributed to water retention and that we should try to consume less of it(?)
@poppynicholson4 жыл бұрын
Laura A basically, if you workout a lot you lose sweat. The more unfit you are the saltier you’re sweat is. If you drink too much water or try to replace sweat loss with plain water it can cause Hyponayremia which is an imbalance of water and sodium. You need to add 0.5g-0.7g of salt per litre for every hour of exercise that you do. It stops cramping and lethargy x

I binged today and was feeling really down and you gave me the motivation to do a workout just out of love for me. Watched your video during cardio and had to say thanks 💕. Anxiety and depression with the pandemic and lockdown has had me bingeing a lot and I’ve gained (if I’m honest🙈) 50 lbs in the last year. I am very ashamed but picking myself up and working through it now. Glad I found your channel! All the best 💕

Yes I totally know what you meant about stillness. I have had the most success with a diet called Ideal Protein($84-$105 per week). 1st time I did it I lost 60 lbs you have a diet coach and it is sold under some sort of dr. (chiropractor or pharmacist) It is 3 of there foods and 4 cups of veggies. Then I got pregnant the next time I did it i lost 30 ish lbs and again got pregnant. I guess the soy in it increases the estrogen and I started making more eggs making me more fertile. Now I am doing my own version on it with Premeir Protein shakes from Walmart, and I have my tubes tied so cross my fingers that this is the last time I am doing a huge weightloss.

One of the most helpful inspirations for me is your plan of not making changes in the middle of the month. One of my biggest issues when I attempt to lose weight is that I start with a plan, start reading several articles, then getting overwhelmed with the information and figuring out if I'm doing the right thing. There's so much conflicting information out there: carbs are good, carbs are bad, eat less calories, eat more or you're in starvation mode, exercise is good, cardio is best for weight loss, lifting weights is better than cardio for weight loss, exercise doesn't affect weight loss, a calorie is a calorie, not all calories are created equal. That's usually when I give up. I'm feeling inspired to start again, and love the idea of sticking to one plan, evaluating the results, and making changes based on those results.

Hi April! I never comment, but I just want to thank you for doing what you’re doing now! I love how open, sweet, and motivating you are! We both started our weight loss journey around the same time and watching your videos has helped me so much! I eventually want to start making KZbin videos documenting my journey so I can help others as well! Fear is just the only thing holding me back. Hopefully one day I’ll get to that point where I’m ready! I really love what you said about shame and confronting it! I really needed to hear that today! And again I just want to say thank you for inspiring and motivating me with every video! I hope you have an amazing rest of night!❤️

I wanted to say I love your channel and energy! I am 5ft 1 inches went down from my heaviest at 250 (when I stopped looking at the scale) 5 years later I’m 132 pounds and learning to love my body everyday. Your attitude about weight loss is refreshing and so kind. Thank you for sharing you. I wish I had you to watch when I was losing the majority of the weight in my late teens. I wanted to say something I’ve personally learned is that shame is just a mean distraction to keep you from confronting whatever inner work you need to do. For example I could say to myself “you can’t do that because you’re XY&Z” but really what if I can and my brain is just “protecting” me from trying because I’m afraid of failure etc. Shame is unproductive and keeps us trapped. It’s so hard when you have anxiety/depression you tend to say to yourself what if I fail but if you push past it and dare to think, what if I succeed?! Magic and opportunities happen when we allow space for them. I’m so proud of you for working to free yourself from shame and going on this journey out of love for yourself. Congratulations on your progress! You are so beautiful and kind, I’ll keep watching you and rooting for you ♥️
