I don't like to exercise also. But my friend told me to join her at a center for free to workout. It's a chair cardio class. I started on my birthrate over a year ago. Lost 19 pounds, I remember you said not to get discouraged. I love going, met very nice people. Age starts 50yrs and our oldest lady is 98! Well next week she will. I'm 73. You are an inspiration.

I just turned 61 and I have finally learned that my walking time is something I am invested in. It’s important for me to feel confident and empowered. It’s not exercise. It’s my quiet time. My me time. ❤

I love the way you have reframed exercise as an investment in your long term health. My hubby and I started about a month ago and we enjoy exercise now. I try the same with reframing of household chores as a way to move because house work is hard work, but I set a time limit to chores so that I have more time to do what I love! Win-win for me!

I’m on this journey with you! I’m 68 and fear not being able to take care of myself due to the extra weight. I joined a fun and fit class at our community center. It is designed for seniors and uses a chair for balance and we do some weights while sitting in the chair. I have met some wonderful and fun ladies in my class, they help to make the class fun and keep me coming. I do confess to being a clock watcher since I’ve never really enjoyed exercising. I also joined a Zumba class, can’t do the whole hour and just keep up the best I can, but not alone in that. Many other seniors struggle, also, but I do enjoy the dancing and just put my own spin on it. I also walk the indoor track each day I go to class, making the whole exercise routine equal an hour. It has really helped strengthen my legs and core which we all use to stand, get up and walk. Plus the core strength helps to keep one from falling. I’m now checking into a ballroom dance class! All the best to you and I really enjoy your videos. Ps, I also try to accomplish at least two house chores each day and feel good about getting them done.

Great way to switch the mindset of exercise. I’m turning 60 in March and have decided to get on the same track as you!!! I’ve been doing pretty well this month!!! Even if I just do stretches on a day I’m doing something! It really is an investment and BONUS I’m realizing that I’m more flexible and don’t hurt as much 💃🏻

I’ve been walking outdoors alone, with my dogs, or with a friend. Even when I don’t really want to do it, like this week when it’s been 20 degrees F or lower, yet I feel much better when I’m finished and have enjoyed the fresh air.

I am with you, turned 56 Jan 14. I did this 2023, lost 35lbs. I got to Fall of 24 and I just stopped. No idea why, except I simply got tired of the daily "gotta do it" and I gained it all back. I had made it safely into " onederland" , so mad at myself. Starting all over. Joined WW Dec 29, need that tracking right now. Exercised every week at least 3-4 days. Well, today is Thursday already and I have not exercised yet, this video just inspired me to keep moving. I can still get 3 days in if I just stop procrastinating. I hear the struggle, know it well. Thank you for your inspiration

Cathy ~ You look radiant, just beautiful. You must be doing a lot of things right. : ) I've walked with Leslie for 7-8 years, but my favorite thing is walking alone outdoors...great prayer time, and I enjoy (and crave) the fresh air and scenery. It's worth the effort. Thanks for your openness and encouragement!

Hi. Cathy. I just loved your walking video. You did really 👍 good. And it was nice to see someone who looks like me. 😊❤ i do my daily walking everyday. Since this is really the only thing i can do right now for excercise. For im waiting for knee replacement surgery. And the walking some days. Prevents the night leg cramps and knee pain. I take my B12 and vitamin d in the morning. Magnesium at bedtime. your very encouraging to me. And i want to thank you. For your awesome cooking and the grocery shopping 🛍 videos. And the clothing also. It is so cold here. No snow. Thank goddess. But i always walk at the mall. I can usually handle 1 hour at most. If i overdo it. My knee aches very bad. So i know my limit. When my weight is down. My knee doesnt get much pain. So i do want to get my weight down somemore. Happy to say i found some leggings. I wear a longer shirt or t shirt or sweater with mine. My knee brace doesnt show. Which is a plus. Also. I have difficulty. Putting my sneakers or shoes on. I invested in some sketchers hands free slip - ins. I got a pair of sneakers plus a pair shoes and a very low cut ankle boot. All slip - ins. Now i dont struggle getting any of the 3 mentioned. Because there hands free. Slip on easily. I decluttered my closet. Only keeping what i really wear.and happy to say i bought some new clothes also. It sure makes you feel better about yourself. My husband always tells me buy yourself something. You're losing weight. I dont notice it but he does . Noticing. Im always pulling up my old pants. your encouraging words. I've been going to hair salon. They color hightlight my hair. I dont do it on my own any longer. To hard standing. With my knee the way it is. So this makes me feel better about myself taking care eating healthy . Looking forward to whatever is next with your videos. Thanks beautiful lady Cathy. Pretty 😎 you are also. 🙏👌😉🙌🫶✌️🙋♀️ catch you later.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I try to remember that some people aren’t well enough to exercise and I’m lucky that I can still move my body. My mom died young with many health issues as did my brother so I think that helped me view exercise in this way. My mom couldn’t walk a block without stopping to catch her breath. I workout almost daily now, sometimes only for 20-30 minutes but I know that it will help me age well.

Thank you for saying this, because with having Rheumatoid Arthritis and so bad in my feet. My Rheumatologist advised me to not walk anymore than 10 minutes for exercise. To save my feet. I get on my recumbent bike and that helps! I'm so glad you can exercise!

@@karenquick8737 Thank you! Good for you that you were determined to exercise and found a way to get some movement in, despite having RA. I had knee surgery recently for a while so I used the stationary bike instead of walking which aggravated my knee and continued to workout using my upper body. There is almost always a way to get some movement in.

Hi Cathy- Thanks for sharing your WLJ. Nutrition is #1, but exercise helps to tone your body and is great for your mental health & mood. It’s important for women over 40 to ‘lift heavy’ (whatever is heavy for you) for bone & muscle health. This is going to be an AWESOME year! ❤❤❤

Yes! I can attest to this - I made a habit of walking every day and love it so much that I miss it if it’s too icy. If I can’t get out for a walk I use the treadmill but outside is more my thing. Oh Cathy….you are so right about kidney dialysis! My Dad did it for four years and it was so hard on him. I know he did it for my Mom. I’m trying to just walk on the treadmill for 15 minutes a day. I average about 5000 steps on a normal day so I’m not totally sedentary. I used to work out all the time but I never seem to have time now. Every day is a new day so I’ll just keep trying.

As another one who doesn't like exercise, the reframing really is helpful. Ever since you did the recent walking video, I realized I can do this, and have been staying with it, 15 minutes (a mile) a day for now. I'm doing it inside and often with hand weights in a controlled way. It's such a short time investment, and it's working. I'm older than you are, and I think as we age movement becomes increasingly important, so along with deliberately getting more calcium and vitamin D, I'm doing this for overall health. It helps me to know that it's beneficial and important. The short walks are helping to develop the habit you talked about. One side benefit of exercise is warming up on these frigid days we've been having here! Keep these coming, they are encouraging!!

I will be sixty six in less than six months. And I don’t like to exercise either. I’m trying to do more. But right now I’m sick. So I don’t have the energy to do much. I’m hoping to feel better soon. I do try to walk when I go out back with my dogs. One reason is it’s so cold out here right now. And it gets my blood flowing more.

I had to laugh, you GenX-er you! I am 66 now (but not for much longer). I remember thinking I'd be 42 at the year 2000 and how old that was. One of my challenges is to not become diabetic. My mother never did, because she ate like a bird. But my Dad was full-on diabetic by 59. All of his brothers became diabetic by 52, and his father who became diabetic due to his alcoholism, died of complications of diabetes at 83. Now, I'm pre-diabetic so I have to get my act together. Thanks for the reminder!

I'm going to be 60 this year. I have noticed that I am losing strength so I pulled out my DVD's from The Firm and started using them a few times a week. it's kicking my butt but it will be worth it. as for diet I'm doing intermittent fasting. I read a book called Eat. Stop. Eat. you do two 24 hour fasts a week. I fast on Tuesday and Saturday. the other days I count my food like Weight Watchers points. so far it's paying off I am down 6 pounds this month. I keep telling all my younger coworkers not to let their workouts slide so they don't lose their strength as they get older

I’m 53 years old and I lost 13 kgs simply by watching Dr Jason Fung videos and books. I didn’t do any crazy exercise at all or any fad diets. Menopause caused weight gain but Dr Fung was my last resort and I’m so glad I stumbled upon him, once I was educated, I was able to lose weight.
