Jill something I discovered with my weight gain (I’m 58) was I had devastating muscle loss - as soon as menopause started my muscles went to paper. My exercise had to go from aerobic to muscle building. It has been life changing as muscles are hungry. For once my hubby is the one who can’t lose weight!! It’s been my answer - I got pool weights and I have one day I do gym and swimming - I have pushed myself but it has worked ❤

I also was opposed to going on a a GLP medication. My husband has been dealing with diabetes for a lot of years and I have watched my husband struggle with his health due to side effects of taking diabetics medication. The medicine destroyed his thyroid and he developed renal cancer and had one of his kidneys removed. My doctor called 2 years ago to tell me my AL1 had hit 6.0 and he wanted to put me on meds. Instead I began tracking everything I ate and went on a 1200 calories a day. I hit a plateau where I lost no weight for 5 months then all of a sudden I began losing .5 lbs a week again. I too have been on anti depressants on and off. The last time I asked to be put on them again after 10+ years without them. After 2 years I felt I was in a better place and weaned off them.

Hi Jill. Lovely to see you on here again. I wish you good luck and huge success on your journey. You've given me the kick up the butt that I needed to take control of my health this year. The last 3 years have been a massive struggle mentally, 2024 being the worst as my dad's failing health finally caught up with him and he passed away in May. Then on top of that my mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and has deteriorated so quickly that she's now in residential care. With all of this going on, the last person I've thought about is myself and both my mental and physical health is probably the worst it's ever been. The menopause certainly hasn't helped matters either! I'll be 59 this year and my goal is to go into my 60's with a much healthier body and mindset than I have right now. I look forward to updates from you as they'll inspire me to keep going. X

So happy to see you back on KZbin and excited for you on your new weight loss journey. I started compounded tirzepitide in September and I am thrilled with my results. I only inject a microdose weekly and I have no “food noise” or cravings. I also have no side effects! I go to a functional doctor for this. They measure not only my fat loss, but also my muscle loss. Unfortunately, I have lost some muscle so I am really working on consuming at least 100 grams of protein a day and lifting weights 3 times a week. I drink Fairlife protein shakes , they taste just like chocolate milk and have 30 grams of protein. Good luck on your new adventure and I hope you will post regularly on your results😊

I see now I was not informed properly of my diet to eat when on it. I was eating high protein but keto style so high fat. I see this is probably why I was feeling so sick. I’m wishing you great success on this journey, Jill! ❤ My journey is similar in that I did keto and carnivore and also had a second channel on that. Through life events that went by the wayside and I gained everything back. I’ve been on WW for a year and that along with my diabetic medication has really helped me get on track and lose again. The weekly weigh in and meetings really holds me accountable and I definitely need that. I’ve gotten off track over the holidays but back on track now. If you can find what works for you then do it, we need to take care of ourselves and never let any naysayers get you down. You got this and I’m over here cheering for you! xoxo 👏👏🤗🤗💞💞

Hi Jill, you’re a beautiful soul inside and out. I wish you the best on this healthy lifestyle journey. I’m 60. At age 45-55 I started lifting hand weights in my bedroom 30 mins 5 days a week. Nothing crazy. I’ve learned that it’s the consistency that makes a difference, not how long you work out per session or the amount of weight, just being consistent. I did not diet. I went from a size 14 to a 4 and I couldn’t believe it. I noticed that I lost inches in about 4 weeks and that was motivation to keep going. Weight lifting gives us a lean look though the scale may never change. I never weighed myself. I tried on the same pair of jeans once a week for months and it was remarkable how many inches a body loses just from lifting 10-20 pound hand weights. At age 55 I quit, had COVID twice and went thru a depression. Boy could I tell a difference in my body. I started lifting again about 3 months ago and I feel great. Weights are the key after 40. Check out Cheryl Coulombe on YT, mature woman who lifts weights slowly and you will see amazing results❤❤❤

Jill Im sooo happy to see your face again! I Im on "the journey" as well! Started Zepbound on November 1st, and so far Im losing right at 1.5 lbs a week. My insurance wouldnt pay so I had to go with the compounded but Ive not had a bit of trouble with it. Very few side effects except gas, belching, and it seems like I get tired alot sooner than I normally did. I too had done Keto back in 2017-2018 and lost 92 pounds! I managed to keep it off until COVID arrived. Being stuck in the house for months on end led me right back to the comfort of food...mainly sugar and Cheetos! I had a good run but I knew I wasnt comfortable with the extra almost 40 pounds i was hauling around again. All it took was for me to see Oprah's special about the semaglutide and I felt like she was talking directly to me! Did you see that? If you didnt...you need to look for it here on YT. Much good luck to you...well to US that is! {{hug}}

i so appreciate that you do your own research and really process what this journey will entail. So many think it's a 'quick fix', but in reality, it is a tool. A powerful one, but still something that can be negative (some side effects) as well as positive, so am impressed you are planning ahead. The line that just jumped out at me was when you mentioned liking the feeling of 'full'. That is was kind of a comforting sensation. I too, have that same thought. that all the advice to eat to 80% full etc., was hard for me as full felt what I was drawn to. I'm working on that as well as food choices. Thank you for being so honest. It's a journey where you have so many rooting for you. And for ourselves. :)

I hope you do really well Jill ! Between May 5th and June 20th of this year I lost 13 pounds on my own, then I went on Compounded Tirzepatide and have now reached a weight loss of 60 pounds. I have had minimal side effects and have averaged a weight loss of 1.74 pounds per week. I had no stalls. I have continually tracked calories, fiber and protein. I have done some walking scattered throughout my journey. I am now 8 pounds away from maintenance. I plan to try to stay on this medication as long as I can, however, if the FDA forces compounding to stop, I will find other alternatives for maintenance. My SW: 185 CW: 125 GW: 117 age 66 5’3. I have had muscle and bone density scans and everything is within the normal range. I have gone from being nearly diabetic to still prediabetic, but with a much lower number.

You sound sooo much like me in every way. I struggle with anxiety, stress, fatigue, etc. I also lost a lot of weight several years ago completely on my own, until one day, I suddenly became sick of salad! That’s when my weight started slowly creeping back up, and I found myself well over 200 lbs again, because I just love the taste of good food (pizza is my downfall!) I started on the Zepbound in February of 2024, and as of two days ago, I’ve lost 73 lbs! This medicine changed my life when I felt like I was a failure, because nothing that I tried seemed to be working anymore. The side effects have never been that bad for me because I’m actually dieting at the same time, but dieting is easy to do when you’re not hungry. I feel so much better, my health has drastically improved, and I’ve gained my confidence back. I am so grateful for this medicine. I wish you the best on your weight loss journey.

I find it so inspiring for myself to hear other people’s struggles, successes, and advice. Have you tried the Nurri shakes at Costco? 30 grams of protein in each shake. I hate the Premier Protein too! They are too thick and sticky in my throat. Nurri shakes are just like drinking regular 2% chocolate milk! I love it-I’m hoping it goes a long way to make feel not hungry. Perhaps you could add a little success/ or problems you encountered at the end of your regular videos for those of us who are trying to lose weight and would like to follow your story as we embark upon our own. She has significantly changed the way she eats. She reduced her portions, stays away from processed food and, most importantly, increased her protein intake and this has been working for her. She also tracks all she eats. She is happy and continues to be motivated to lose more weight.

Be careful! Monjaro/Zepbound works great for some BUT for me… made me sooo Sick! Fatigue, nausea and generally unwell. Dr upped my dosage to .5… I felt ok the first day then I ended up with pancreatitis, sulfur burps, nausea, fatigue… AWFUL! Unfortunately sometimes they lightly brush over the side effects. My system is sensitive too… just be careful and pay attention to side effects. It can cause stomach paralysis as well.

I follow Dr.Tyna Moore here on KZbin, I strongly suggest any woman over 40 do the same. I was on a glp-1 for 3 months I only lost 5 pounds so my doctor put me on the full dosage by month 3, ended up getting gastropharesis. Not fun. Deathly sick 🤢 I had to stop my glp-1 and couldn’t eat for almost 3 weeks, I was terrified I would never be the same again. But I’m going to say this, first of all after watching Dr. Tyna I realize my dosage was too high and at the starting dosage I had great control over the food. GLP-1 helped turn the food noise off like never before, I felt like I no longer obsessed over food and my diet, it also gave me motivation to exercise daily. Weight lifting is key while on a GLP-1 plus any woman premenopausal or in menopause needs to do muscle building, nothing crazy just lift those weights! I’m having a minor surgery next week but after that I was given the green light to try a low dose glp-1 again and totally plan on doing that. You do you Jill! Just remember it’s a trial and error, there are so many glp-1’s out there now. Don’t give up on you! I’m rooting for you! You got this lady! ❤ I’m so excited we will be doing this journey together! 😊 Edit* you can get the orgain in a large container from Walmart and they have every flavor. I’m like you it’s really the only protein drink I can handle, mix with almond milk and frozen fruit was perfect for me when I was on a glp-1. I started my day with a shake everyday and it really helped me. FITCRUNCH protein bars again from Walmart were my go to. I always had one in my purse and generally could only eat half at a time. Many many flavors.

Great information. Thank you for sharing! Yes, I found when taking Semaglutide it didn't take much dosage wise for me to get the benefits. Just one dose above the intro dose and that's where I stayed. I have noticed so far w/ terzepatide that this "intro" dose is doing it's thing, and we will see at the end of the 4 weeks how it goes, but if I can stay here and still get the benefits I plan on it! I have read that many did amazing on just this first dose. I do not plan on going up just because that's the protocol.

Stay on the lowest dose for as long as you can until you notice food noise or other cravings. If on a compound you can control the dosage and not go up too fast. This is what I have figured out while on my tirzepatide journey.

Hi Jill, I started Tirzepatide compound initially and a few months later finally got approved for Zepbound. Both worked exactly the same for me. I lost 70 lbs in the last year and love this medication. It took the food noise away which feels so miraculous. I have been able to reach my goal weight for the first time in many years. I recommend doing some research on the "gut-brain axis." The keto diet is one of the worst fads out there; it is not sustainable like many other diets. Additionally, I can confirm from experience that medications for depression and anxiety can lead to significant weight gain. Finally, spending time outdoors and exercising-just walking, for example-is essential for both mental and physical health.

Thanks Jill for sharing all this. I have been undecided about trying Trizepides but hear good things about them. Still struggling to stick to keto due to giving into carb cravings nuts chocolate and just eating too much even good foods. Wondering if the shots would help. Not understanding why I give into carb cravings to eating stuff I shouldn’t on keto or overeating and eating for other than hunger. Not sure if the shots would help that. Have managed to remain prediabetic even with veering off 20 gr keto but triglicerides and lipids are high and hdl only normal 50. Interested to hear more about how it goes for you. Also developed a bladder prolapse and some sciatica pain so wanting to wait to add shots that may have side effects to the mix until I get that under control. Anyway, thanks for sharing. Please continue.

I say don’t delay and take the GLP1s. It will help a lot of your current conditions. It will correct your prediabetes. It also reduces inflammation which could really help your sciatica. Plus, it absolutely curves your carb desire. You should not have to deal with food controlling your life. Keto is tricky for people like us because it just makes us obsess over food even more. Tirzepatide really helps take your mind off of the food so that you don’t have to white knuckle it. Dieting and life is so much easier when you are not preoccupied with food.

We are exactly the same age and I'm going through a weightloss journey as well. Side note...same as far as liking the full feeling. I'm seeing a Registered Dietitian once a month and so far 🤞 I haven't needed to go on medication. But nothing is off the table with regard to that. From natural supplements ie berberine to semiglutide. She has other natural ways of jump starting when plateaus hit. I'm down about 30lbs with another 40 to go. I would love for you to continue this journey with videos and maybe all of us on this journey get closer if not at goal weight in 2025.😊

Please consider going full carnivore. Dr Ken Berry on KZbin will help. I lost 40 lbs in less than 4 months and my arthritis, depression, anxiety, high bp, fibromyalgia, sleep apnea, etc all disappeared. I’m going to give it another 6 months to lose the rest of the weight but at 58, I’ve never felt better! It’s great that I dumped all my meds as well. I only take levothyroxine as I have no thyroid due to surgical removal.

I’m not a doctor, but I’ve probably watched hundreds of hours of doctors talking about carnivore and the great absolute results. Please watch Dr. Ken Berry before you do anything else. The main problem is muscle loss. You will lose 15lbs muscle for every 25 pounds lost. Then when you stop, you are worse off metabolically than you were before the drug. At this age strength training is vital. You can get body recomp without the drugs.

We initially tried semaglutide and not only did I not lose much over 4 months, but I felt horrible on it. Terzeptide is an absolute life changer. I need a GLP1 and will probably be on one for the rest of my life. I'm ok with that. Just did a whole blood work up and my values have dramatically changed for the better. I get compounded to Tirzepatide through telehealth because I have Medicare and Medicare will not cover it. The price range can be anywhere from $200-$450 per month, depending if they have membership fees. Please know the compounding is in danger of going away right now because of recent FDA rulings declaring that there was no longer a shortage of Zepbound and Mounjaro. There is a court case pending. I have lost 60 pounds on it since May. I have eight more pounds to go and then I will be in maintenance.

Yes, it is basically the same. In addition to working with the GLP-1 hormone receptor it also works with a second hormone receptor GIP it works by impacting both appetite regulation and gastric emptying mechanisms. So sorry you dealt with that!

Ready for early 40 % of lean muscle loss and devastating GI symptoms? And by the way the muscle loss will also affect the facial muscles ( hence the term Ozempic face) …please reconsider. There are other less distressing ways to loose weight. With all that being said, I wish you good luck on this journey-they price people pay for this kind of weight loss is severe, because as we age sarcopenia ( muscle loss) is the main cause of morbidity and mortality. Do anything but this….even a gastric band is less devastating to your body.

Hi Jill, I understand your desire to lose weight and get healthy but all these new weight loss drugs are new and the effects of them are unknown. I am a Type 1 diabetic and I have two doctors have said due to the newness of these drugs they have said not to take it. Their opinion is yes it helps some people lose weight but at what cost. Some of the drugs have been used in Europe longer but they are manufacturing so many new medications it is scary and I wonder how it will affect peoples bod in 10-20 years. It seems any previous miracle weight loss drugs that have been introduced are then recalled due to the serious side effects. Think hard about injecting something into your body that is still relatively new. My Retinal specialist said he is surprised what people will do to be thin (thin or possible vision loss).

I don't understand this type of conclusion? How is it the easy way out? I have cut inflammatory foods. My diet is without sugar and barely eating any grains at all. I am eating very clean. Adding walking and stretching for movement and some weight lifting to help sustain muscle and hopefully build new. If the end game is to become a healthier person, and increase quality of life and life expectancy itself...how is that the easy way out? To prove something to someone? To whom?....

What an ignorant response! I am 44 years old, in the throws of menopause, have chronic pain from 4 failed spinal surgeries accompanied by neuropathy and sciatica that require a whole variety of meds to make it through my day taking care of two daughters. My chronic pain limits my activity level and the meds have caused me to gain weight over the years. I attempted many diets over the last 4 years and the best I can do is maintain my weight. I have now been on Tirzepitide for 11 months. In that 11 months I have gone to water aerobics twice a week, done yoga twice a week at home with my Daughter's and simple weight training three times per week. I track everything I put in my mouth and stay within 1000-1200 calories every day! I eat as clean as I can which requires me to prepare most meals (this is so hard for me with my pain level). Eating out would be so much easier but I don't do it. Instead I endure the pain and make my protein and vegetables at home. I started this journey at 277lbs. Today I weight 198lbs. It took me 11 months to lose 79lbs. That is a loss of 7lbs a month...this is less than 2lbs per week. It's not like the weight is just melting off! I've worked for every ounce! Every person's journey is different and personal. You never know all the struggles one may face. Kindness is free. You should consider it. And if you can't I am sure your folks told you if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all! And if they have not, I am!! Good luck to you beautiful Jill. You will do great! There always has to be that one rotten piece of fruit in the bunch!❤❤❤

@@JillLynnBeautyTherapyIn addition to what I added above I just wanted to tell you that I have not experienced any negative side effects while being on Tirzepitide. I know this can be different for each individual. I have also chose to increase my dose when I've noticed little plateaus. My Dr has been great about managing this part, of course. I started at the 2.5mg and increased to the 5mg at month two. I stayed there for 3 months and then went to the 5mg where I stayed for another 5 months. I then increased to the 7.5mg where I am currently. I have room to increase the dose, if needed, as I work to lose the remaining 40lbs. I hope this information helps you and i wish you all the best!!!❤
