I’ve had the hw95 in 22 for about 8 years now and it’s a fantastic rifle, I’m in the U.K. so we’re limited to sub 12 ft lb but even so I’ve bagged so many rabbits within that time and taken out the odd rat that’s made it’s way into my back garden and also taken it on permissions where I control vermin for farmers and it’s never let me down. I’ve never adjusted anything with it and it’s as it was straight from the box. Granted I do have a couple of pcp’s but it’s always nice to go back to your roots and have some fun too. I also have the hw 99s which again is a great little ratter and is small enough for the younger shooter to learn to shoot with and has open sites and 11mm dovetail to mount a scope but I always like to let a new shooter to learn the basics and first shoot with open sites then progress to using a scope. But Weihrauch airguns you are paying for quality and a gun if looked after will last a lifetime and handed down to the next generation.

Same here, i have two hw99s ( i believed They're called HW50s in America and Europe) The 99s is a hell of a gun for the low price tag. I can't fault it. In fact it's the rifle I'd recommend to a new shooter starting out. Not the cheapest, but it'll last and it'll hit what you're aiming at as long as you do your bit. Buy cheap buy twice, i wouldn't buy anything else

Thorough and fair review. I purchased one of these from you folks last year, in .177…and liked it so much that I recently ordered another one in .22! They’re a wonderful spring piston gun, and the package is a great value. The mounts and optics are very nice; these are high quality components that people should not compare to the bundled components that come with rifles sold in big box stores. This is ~$250 scope and mount setup if you purchase them separately. AoA is a top notch outfit, chock full of knowledgeable, friendly, helpful staff. I am not affiliated with them in any way…just a VERY happy customer. I have been for several years now, and will be for many years to come! Thanks AoA!

@RFTwo
@RFTwo 2 жыл бұрын
@@Beesa10 My .177 is used primarily for field target, silhouette, and bench rest style shooting. The faster, flatter trajectory, along with the smaller projectile is very beneficial for field target. My .22 is used for small game hunting, general plinking, and will see use in the .22 Leagues at my local club. This variant of the HW95 is a 15-16 FPE gun, so it’s going to push a 7.9 grain .177 pellet ~900 FPS, and a 14.3 grain .22 pellet ~700 FPS.

I own this rifle in .20 cal. and absolutely love it. I have put more than 4000 pellets through it without any hint of a problem. Smooth cocking, and positive barrel lockup. I use JSB, H&N, and Crosman pellets...the gun shoots well with them all. Definitely back yard friendly and taken care of will last a lifetime. I've owned this gun for more than 10 years and it still looks and shoots like new. Well worth the price. My gun is the R9 under the Beeman label.

PCPs are definitely not my thing either, however I think they do have their place, especially for varminting and hunting. I have an HW57 and a HW40 in .177 which I am very satisfied with. The 57 has only 5,5 Ft/lbs but it is just right for my 15 meter attic range. They are just for target work and plinking. I don't do any varminting. There is a market and good use for PCPs. However for my use they are just "impractical". After you are spoiled by a self contained springer, you are just not interested in the costs that come with refilling the tank.

@@ytucharliesierra Hi! Power is not so imoprtanr. Right shot placement does the job. 5,5 Ft-lbs is enough for a clean kill if you know your max. shooting distance. I've got my self a PCP /AirArmsS410/ but i hardly use it. It's no mire accurate than a HW and it was already leaking air so i had to replace the transfer port seal. There are pest control situations i will prefer a PCP but the springer is for me still No1. Cheers!

I find it maddening that such a top quality gun has so little power. I will not buy it for that reason. Weihrauch seems to have the attitude that more power is harder to be accurate and repeatable with. But the problem is, we don't know how to hold the springer and let it shake the way it wants,----every shot. I can shoot a 30 fpe springer just as well and further, as any springer on the market. All I need is a national springer competition that pays money, and I will take that money all day long if they shoot to 80 yards.

Same original England Webley Patriot rifle, no more in production many years ago. I always regret not purchased 15 year ago the original Beeman Kodiak in .25 cal too. I have own many Dianas, Milbros, Gamos, Cometas, Mendoza etc. Nowdays there are many powerful magnum break barrel rifles, springers, nitro piston or gas ram. Like the powerful Hatsan 125 and 135 models, the Crossman Benjamin, Brazilian, Chinesse magnum rifles, and most of these rifles are good and powerful, I have some too, but these rifles don't have the extreme quality and excellent accuracy the Weihrauch-Beeman, Air Arms or RWS have. I would like very much, to know some day that any, of these quality airguns brands named, will produce a .30 caliber break barrel, springer or gas ram rifle) that produce velocities at least 700 f/s. I am talking about shooting heavy pellets that weigh 44 or 50 gr. I dont care if this future rifle will weight 12 pounds or if it will need 70 lbs of cocking effort. I will purchase it immediately. I know Hatsan already produce this .30 cal break barrel rifle. The 130 model, the 135 Carnivore, QE model. But this rifle only gets 450 f/s velocity with these heavy pellets, it is little for me

As a manufacturing expert myself, I can attest that making your stuff "in house", gives the best opportunity for the best quality possible. The employees still have to be quality minded though, and if it is a union shop, it is hard to fire sloppy employees. Top quality does take more money to produce a product, (tighter tolerances has a dollar value), but it is worth it. Top quality for the little gas engines I modify for a living, is a big part of why I am the most popular engine builder in the world in my industry today.

I thought to myself. Can I shoot that bird? Without endangering anyone or anybody's property around. So I quietly started the vehicle maneuvered myself around. Yes, you have a safe and clean shot at the pigeon. I removed the gun from the case loaded it. Roll down the front window. And with the very first shot from that air gun. That Pigeon was smoked. Just Drop over dead. Needless to say here comes another Pigeon. Right by the one that just dropped. I attempted to reload. But he flew off by the time I had it reloaded. Lucky for him. I wasn't thinking. These birds are really, really jumpy. And I shouldn't have taken so long to reload. Can you believe that the very first shot? That goddamn scope was right on. Thanks to air guns of Arizona. Since I've gotten it home. Is enable to assess the weapon. I know it's not the most expensive, it's not the cheapest. But this thing is made very, very well. The only thing I heard questions about. Was that Twain from the Spring? They told me it would go away as I broken the gun. It's not as FPS as my 177 caliber. But that 22 calibers sure does pack a A lot of punch. I'm very happy with my field pro selection And I shall buy other air rifles from Air guns of Arizona. I still want to get a 177 caliber. The gun is heavy. And after 20 rounds of Cocking the rifle. It's a good workout. I have read where the gun will get more accurate as I break it in more. To whoever reads this. Please understand I assess the situation. Where I was shooting. And took the shot. These guns are very powerful and can cause damage to property and person in the background, be careful. Happy hunting, happy Target shooting. Most of all, be safe. This is definitely not a toy. PS shot was taken at 20 yd.

I love all of my HW variants. I can't remember what they all are since they where Beeman imports. The R7 is by far the most fun, least hold sensitive. My R10s I would say are my favorite hunters. They have about the same power as my R1s, but alot more recoil friendly. I ASSume the R10 uses the same spring as the R9? And the Rekord triggers are a work of art!

Thank you, excellent video. I was told that the 50s and 80s is the same rifle from a power point of view. The FPS spec on these rifles are not very clear some are restricted and we dont have any power restrictions. 24joule I think is the most powerful Wiehraugh not sure which break barrel version to get the 50s 80 or 95 I want it in .177 for small game.

I had an HW-80 / Beeman R-1 in .20 caliber. I hunted with that for a couple of years and added a "British Legal Limit" (12 FPE) Webley Omega in .177 to my collection. That Omega, running at 11.75 FPE energy with 7.9 grain pellets, killed rabbits and squirrels just as dead and just as quickly as my 18 FPE .20 HW-80 did. It was lighter to carry and easier to shoot accurately. 20 years ago, I sold the mighty HW-80 / Beeman R-1 in .20 and replaced it with two Beeman R-9's, with one in .20 caliber and the other in .177. I still have the .20 R-9. When I lived in California, where air rifles are an authorized method of take for small game animals and non-migratory upland game birds, including wild turkey, I used that ,20 caliber R-9 for every species of game the law allowed me to take with it and it killed all of it stone-cold dead out to 50 yards with no problem. Where I live now, I can only legally hunt rabbit and squirrel with an air rifle. Here, out to 50 yards, a rifle putting out 11.5 to 12 FPE of muzzle energy in .177 caliber would really be all the air rifle I would need. A .177 HW-95 tuned to that power level is a wickedly accurate shooting device. Having the most powerful spring piston air rifle isn't necessary and to me, it's actually not really all that desireable compared to a spring piston rifle at the British legal limit in .177 is. That's the sweet-spot for power and accuracy in .177 spring-piston rifles, to me.

I would argue than the 95 is a better hunter. I would rather shoot even something as large as a racoon with something a little weaker if the shot placement is better, and it's likely to be better on something like a 95 because it shoots smoother

Is that a silencer break or just a weight? I know spring guns don't really need the muzzle report reduced if it is built correctly and most sound comes from the internals.

I shoot only PCP'S but if I was going to purchase a spring gun it would not be a break barrel as it does not make any sense to me at all? I am not an engineer but I would think that a underlever OR a sidelever would be a better option as far as accuracy is concerned as the barrel is fixed and does not move. I am sure over time as parts wear on a break barrel what it will not always reset (for a lack of a better term) in the exact same spot time and time again but I could be wrong. Just for myself the other two options makes much more sense...

Hello Shane! From a mechanical standpoint, I understand your concerns; especially with a lesser quality box store break barrel. These Weihrauch models, as well as other high end break barrel rifles are extremely accurate and will maintain this accuracy for a very long time if properly maintained. I have an Anschutz break barrel rifle that is ~35 years old or so and it is still incredibly accurate, with a very tight lock-up. I have many high end break barrel rifles and have never seen any degradation in accuracy over the years. I am a stickler for maintaining my equipment, and make sure the hinges and pivot points are properly cleaned and lubricated at the manufactures recommended intervals. Check out this video showing Si shoot his HW98 at a little further distance…quality break barrel rifles are generally limited accuracy wise by the shooter; not the platform itself. Have a great day! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHKTZGOfia-YpKs

@@RFTwo Appreciate the reply and I will check out the link! I do not pretend to know everything and if I am wrong I stand corrected and thank you for it! Always wanted a spring gun as it would be nice to have everything self contained so to speak as only ONE paintball shop in my area can fill my SCBA tank to 4500 psi as my fire station will no longer fill my tank due to liability concerns ( have no idea as to why but my tank is a higher quality unit from what they even use and is well within hydo) I just target shoot at 75-100 yards and I do not think any spring gun can reproduce the accuracy at that range BUT as always I could be wrong...

@@shane011471 You’re spot on- if I was primarily target shooting at 75-100+ yards I’d be running PCPs too. Kip at AoA is pretty darn capable with the HW95 Field Pro- there’s a video of him and Giles shooting shotgun shells at 50 yards and pop cans at 100 yards. 100 yards with a spring gun is a LONG shot for me. I usually break out the .22LR for that kind of stuff. My local fire department won’t fill a 4500 PSI tank either. I think they fill to ~3300 PSI locally. I have no close options to fill a tank which I why I never seriously invested in PCPs.
