Bought my first rifle last October, spent 6 months looking at every KZbin review on PCPs and from nowhere i suddenly decided i wanted a springer instead. I ended up buying a Weihrauch HW97KT wood stock, springers all the way for me now, absolutely love my 97.

I tried a few pcps but don't think I'll ever buy one, they just feel dead like I'm not really shooting anything. I like a little bit of bite with the bark.

Thanks for the video.. your videos are always informative and educational and fun, especially to someone new to air rifles.. The HW 97K is the one I've been looking at the most recently.. its a toss up between the HW 97 K or the Air Arms TX 200.. I dunno.. 🤣🤣 I've watched video reviews on both of these great rifles and im still undecided on what one to go for.😁😁 you may have just tiped the balance with your video.. 👍🤘👌 thanks again..

Paul, I've just bought a mk1 HW77K with its smaller loading gate, non removable foresight and ball bearing in the barrel housing and only two arrester holes. Superb rifles. I had (and gave away!) a HW97 Centenary which I bought for £205 from Ramsbottom back in 2000. I'm not sure if it had 25mm internals but I do remember it had a square section mainspring. Many thanks for another, excellent review.

@@fieldsportcymru4636 If you were buying one rifle. Choice being TX200, TX200 HC, or Pro Sport. All with walnut stock, 177cal and FAC power. Accuracy and quietness being priority. Rifle will be used for target shooting and hunting within 50yards. Which would you choose and why. I don't know anyone who has experience with all 3 rifles. If you ever get time your opinion would mean a lot. God bless you brother. 🎯👍

@@heithwatkins For me id buy a TX200 hc . The bull barrel is superb the shape of the stock and pistol grip suit my hand perfectly. I find the TX stock a better shape than the Pro sport which has a fatter grip and not so pronounced a rake .

@@fieldsportcymru4636 My preference is the Prosport. The barrel has nothing attached to it, improving harmonics, it's extremely comfortable to shoot, and the cocking is faster because you don't have a manual anti beartrap. And it's just so smooth. Love the TX as well, and I'm considering a 97k, but I'll put a drop in kit in and remove the anti bear trap, as it only blocks the trigger so it's no safer than just not being an idiot. Unlike the Prosport, the TX or the Diana under and sidelevers, which have a separate mechanism that blocks the piston from coming back and amputating your thumb, the 97K only has a break barrel style anti bear trap, that prevents the trigger being pulled. If the trigger mechanism fails, it won't save you. With airguns with this type of mechanism I remove it. It makes cocking smoother and allows decocking if you so wish. Also forces you to maintain safe practices.

I have a pair of these one in 177 and one in 22, can never decide which to leave at home when going to the range, both extremely accurate guns. I got a left hand custom stock for the 177 off ebay for what I consider a bargain of the year price. One guy at the range said I am just going out for a minute , name your price. Needless to say it wasn't for sale.

Recently bought a 97KT black version, with the polymer thumb hole stock, in .22. It is a fairly hefty piece of kit, but extremely accurate, with a good scope mounted on it. Definitely a good Springer, for HFT.

I recently filled the hollow butt of my black version with silicone sealant, left it overnight to harden so it now soaks up a bit more recoil and sound, It's also now less nose heavy. the stock also has side pockets of air which are only visible with the barrell/trigger mechanism removed, I've filled them with cut to size foam rubber blocks. the rifle now makes a thud rather than a thwack !!

Very envious,pcp's are a tool to do a job with,springers are alive,each has it's own personality.The satisfaction you get from getting a great shot from a springer is something a pcp can only dream about.Shoot a pcp,thinking you are good,move to a springer,go to the back of the class.Shoot a springer,then move to a pcp,head boy! I have many of both types,i shoot paper targets,always end up using my springers,just more rewarding
@raydonson5957

I know what you mean,the satisfaction from a good shot is magic. My hw100 feels soulless next to the 97, I only shoot paper, at 60yrds my 97 groups better than my 100 it seems less affected by the wind, both 177 at 11ftlbs with jsb exacts

@@raydonson5957 Wow,60 yards! i can only shoot 40 yards in my garden,20mm edge to edge groups is the best i can do with any of my springers,mine are all .22.Like you,i only shoot paper targets,but i do find it very relaxing.I have various pcp's that can swat flies at my limit,but it's boring.

I have had the 97k in blue laminate for a couple of months now as I bought it for an absolute bargain from a lad needing some cash it was only six months old and in mint condition but I’ve been ever so careful not to mark the stock and only yesterday I was looking on one of my local gun shop and he had a beech stock advertised for £65 and it was like new. He said that a guy had recently bought a 97 from him but he’d already had a custom stock made so didn’t want the stock so he’d asked the gun shop if they would sell it for him. But £65!! I thought that was very cheap and I did get it for £60.

You can buy the internals from the weihrauch silencer to fit the existing rifle,or,if you prefer,you can get an adaptor that you replace the end of the barrel weight (7mm allen key does it),it has a 1/2 "unf thread on the end so you can fit any standard female thread silencer to it.
