I was lucky enough to see Tom present his slides at our local theatre in Greenock. He was and still is a great inspiration to me and I've spent a lot of time exploring the hills and glens of Scotland. He had an incredible knowledge of the outdoors and captures the spirit of the freedom of "The wet and wild".

So glad STV made these programmes - for as much as I admire the late Tom Weir - the footage is unique in capturing the workings at Crianlarich and the uniquness of the area before over development and modernisation.

Thanks again, G's Way. In his early years, as you know, Tom lived at 310 Springburn Road, Glasgow N1. When I was 16 (1967), I was decanted from my 'unhappy' home to live with my 'Granny Brown' at 290 Springburn Road (next to the Co-operative Society shops, as were). If only I had known then what I now know ... Cut to 1974: At that time, I was a 'Railman' with British Rail, working out of Crianlarich. Hard work/graft, which I admit I did not hack for long. However ... looking back, this was a very special time in my life, re 'growing up stronger, mentally and physically'. Now, as a young 70 year-old: Thank you for uploading these insights into the Heart and Soul of Tom Weir. Stay free. Rab 🎯

Love watching these programmes, we Scots can be proud that we had Tom Weir, same as England had Fred dibnah.

It's a pity we didn't see any of Oban as it was then. I was born in 77, so not sure if this is from before or after. It looks around that time given the fashion. Oh, and as pretty as the journey is, the train is still painfully slow.

Is this from one of the many DVD collections? I have several TW DVDs, but I don't recall seeing this one before. Thanks for uploading ;-)
