Filmed in 1978 - give or take. Finlay MacRae plays The Little Spree.

I wonder if any of these folks are still alive?

@@euanwilson5750 Afraid not, young Duncan died just last year, in September 2019, at the early age of 65. He was the last. If you search Donald MacLennan, Ghillie Glen Affric, Obituary, you can (if you feel able), read some of the desperately sad story of Donald(and his comrades), during WWii. He lived to a grand age, 93 years(his year of birth given as 1916), dying in 2009. Finlay MacRae died not so long ago, a few years now. I just very recently was able to discover that the piobaireachd he plays in programme is The Little Spree, with the answer coming from Roddy MacLeod in actual fact. Thank goodness we have Tom’s archive of the remarkable people of that generation.

@@macs7641 Thanks for that Iain, you're absolutely right, Tom's programmes are invaluable. I doubt we'll ever see the likes of that generation again.

A wee bit unsure of the tune, but considering the era and the conditions (freezing), he had a nice set of pipes and never missed anything.

Yeah - there’s something very ‘organic’ about the pitch they’re at. It just sounds just right. (The Little Spree - see other post above for those who have missed it🙂).
