Wow, this video is so relaxing, and your honesty is refreshing... Like, you are not afraid to tell that you missed a focus, you tell some tips and etc. I was happy along with you when you got a nice shot because I realize the limitation of 36 frames!

Hi Pierre, i always enjoy your street photography videos whether it's in Japan or America they are all great. The best remedy for jet lag is taking photos, after the first couple of photos you forget about the jet lag. In Australia we have recycling as well and you get 10c for each bottle, cans, plastic water bottles etc. I actually liked the motorcycle shot, because it was close and you could see the nice colour from his Helmet and the Motorcycle. I totally agree that photography is very therapeutic for the body and the mind, it keeps you fit and you meet interesting people on the way that sometimes want to chat with you. Thanks Pierre. 😃

Wouldn't consider the last shot a cheat since on 35, you can squeeze 1 or 2 extra Shots depending how you wound your film at the start and if you took a shot right before the counter goes (1). Love the video and the shots man!

Congratulations on the video, also the photos, some of them are really nice! I was thinking that at the end of this type of street photography video, it would be interesting if you would make a collection of the photos that you think are best and for what reason. So that you would make it clear why you would choose one photo over another. Because for example, personally, I liked just 4-5 photos out of all the ones you did. But I would like to know for what reason you would choose other photos.

Watched a lecture recently by Rob Walker who wrote a book (well, a collab book) called The Art of Noticing. I haven't read the book yet (it's on my list), but it is the same concept as you were discussing about the importance of paying attention and not just blowing past things. He especially emphasized the idea of paying attention for specific items but also just paying attention in general. Anyway, I agree that when you look for cool things, it changes your perspective even if you don't always find the cool things.

Maybe this isn’t a good tip for photos where the subject is moving, but if the subject is still and you have a few seconds, try turning off the focus peaking and instead zoom in while focusing. I think focusing peaking is very imprecise and I have much more luck with zooming in.

That's the number of photos you're supposed to get from a typical roll of 35mm film (the type of film 99% of regular people used while film cameras were common, except maybe for polaroid-style instant film). You might get more or less shots depending on your exact camera model and how you wind the film to start with.

Why is everything shot vertically and away from your body. The shooting with the screen instead of the viewfinder drives me crazy.
@Stogie7884
@Stogie7884 4 ай бұрын
He posts to IG and photos look better on IG when they are shot vertically because it maximizes screen space. He probably uses the screen because he likes it more and sometimes when you use the viewfinder it doesn’t always come out the same, whereas the screen is an exact replica of the photo.
@dostufph
@dostufph 4 ай бұрын
It's just bad technique to not use the viewfinder unless there's an absolute angle you can't get to. The vertical format leaves so much out of the frame, it's much easier to crop vertically than to take a vertical picture and try to crop horizontally. I realize there are certain dimensions for reels and what not but I think it's more of a narrative about what's wrong with what IG has become. It's basically a home for reels and short video content. You can't even scroll your feed any more and see images unless you really try. IG from a photo perspective is a square format but if you're making reels all the time then your content has a different dimension. I don't have a problem with using vertical shots but when you're simply shooting to match a medium so you can make reels it takes away from good photography. I'm not saying the person who made this video is a bad photographer but looking at everything with the same center focus, the same composition, over and over again gets really stale. Unfortuantely we see too much of it on IG and you see everything in your viewfinder the same you would see it on the screen. @@Stogie7884

I mean street photography can be very empty some times and not that exciting, but I do agree that most of the time his photography looks just ok and he's definitely trying to sell you his presets, which look like very basic color grading and correction in my opinion. Whenever he's like "omg this will be a beautiful shot" and then it's just an empty street with some light I'm just like "really?". It works for him though
