The car accident caused the doctors to do a CT scan that she wouldn't have had done if she wasn't in that accident. The CT scan that was originally used to scan for organ damage, found a tumor (which is not a form of organ damage and was not a result of the car accident. Its a cancer thing). What he did was messed up but it did help in the end
