Phantasy Star Online is a spinoff MMO from a long running JRPG series, and the keyboard was used for text chat in game while you played it with the 'normal' gamecube controller. This was used in conjunction with the network adapter on the bottom of the gamecube.

@@Rath2049 yeah, so its not exactly *for* fighting games, but functions as a normal GC controller in other games, and there is software and custom hardware that allow you to use both the keyboard and controller on PC.
