Weird Gearbox set up on an Enviro 200

As the title suggests... this is the only enviro 200 which I've driven which goes through gears as quickly as this, but then seems to hold the gears very well up an incline (when it wants to - example at 2:13 where it drops from 6th to 5th to 4th, then golds 4th), under the right conditions it will hold the gears upto the rev limiter (not shown in the video).
I've come across 67 plate E200s act in a similar way but seems unusual for a 64 plate! Let me know what you think :)

All Allison E200s from 2014 onwards had the newer generation of the Allison 2100 series gearbox with 6 gears instead of 5, which improves fuel efficiency and acceleration

It’s likely because Allison normally only ever use 5 speeds but this sounds like a 6 speed possible had a gearbox replacement

It could be the set up for the gearbox for the different change up and down ratios

Allison gearboxes do have a tendancy to do such a thing as I've noticed it mainly in Stagecoach's Optare Solos/Solo SRs. It's amazing and even better when they are literally "musical" too lol!

Is it not a ZF as trornic light the enviro 200 I'm driving has one . Gets really confused on the hills slow speed etc .

Usually Allison gearboxes in buses are 5 speeds this is a 6 speed hence the strange gear changes!

@@ggpeakexplorer4009 There's in total 4 different Allison 2100 gearbox generations 1st gen is the AT545 one I believe (the one with the loud whine) which goes from 19something-2002 (not sure how many gears it has) Then uve got the 2nd gen one which just has a really quiet whine which isn't really the same as the 1st gens one in pitch and u can only hear it on low throttling sometimes but defo not in the drivers cab bc the whine is stupidly quiet for some reason 2003-mid 2010. And the gear ratios are different, 5 gears aswell. Then uve got the 3rd gen one which is basically the same as 2nd but the gear revs are slightly lower and the 3 gear ratio is slightly different too. 2010-2013. Which also has 5 gears. And also has the quiet Allison whine And then u have the 4th generation which is what this bus uses where it has 6th gears for once 2014-present. Also has that fucking quiet Allison whine

Awfully rattly sounding for a 64-reg. Our local Stagecoach depot has about half a dozen 64-reg Enviro 200s but I don't know if any of them are quite as noisy inside.

Allison gearboxes are the best But being Stagecoach it’s most likely a voith Unless it’s the one bought from Wessex bus
