Weird History of Universal Studios Florida | Rare Characters, Studio Tram Tour and More

Hello and welcome to the World of Micah! I travel around filming everything and anything I find interesting -from theme parks to abandoned urban exploring. If you enjoy learning more about Disney history, tips & secrets or a fan of Walt Disney World nostalgia you have come to the right place. I also enjoy showing Universal Studios history and taking a look of what’s left of from classic attractions like JAWS and ‪Back to the Future‬. More of an Urban Exploring fan? I travel around Central Florida and film everything from abandoned Toys “R” Us stores to abandoned attractions. I'm also a major Movie Buff! I have found the filming locations from such films as Edward Scissorhands, Halloween (1978) & Hocus Pocus!

Thanks for posting Micah! Remember so many great characters from Universal back in the day from WC Fields, Mae West, Marx Brothers and my personal favourites Laurel and Hardy. Sure I have some photos of them. One memory for me is that the Marx Brothers were messing around in Kongfrontation Queue - helped passed the time away that is to sure!

I got to tell you man my sister ran into you at Universal studios today (sunday) and recognized you and spoke to you and it really made her day dude. We both have been watching you for a long time and really think you deserve more subscribers. I've actually learned a lot from your videos and appreciate the effort you put into them.

Just an fyi, Naughty Dog is the game studio that developed the Crash Bandicoot game. That’s their logo on the bottom right of the Crash Bandicoot photo you show on your phone. Btw I love these weird history videos of the theme parks. Keep em’ coming!

On Ebay I got this odd small booklet of IOA ride pics (Jurassic, Spiderman). But the pages were thick and had a perforation at the spine of the booklet. I took it to the Universal Legacy store and asked about it. Turns out each page was a card to put into the "station" at the preview center for IOA in 1998-9. You got each stamped and you "won".

I loved looking at the old Psycho house up on the hill. I miss all of the old school rides at Universal and how the park used to look.

A great in park resource that I met regarding old characters was Nannaline, a team member now outside Horror Make up show entrance. Shes been at UOR since early 1990s. I had pics from old characters (Marx Brothers, Laurel and Hardy). She knew that some still continue to be part of UOR in other roles since their character was stopped in mid 1990s. A weird mash up of old stuff: Harpo would tie a rope with handle bars to back of Tram and "water ski" on skates behind the Tram (likely not allowed these days). Saw it in youtube video 2012 or so, I cannot refind right now

Going to Universal Hollywood as a kid the tram tour was awesome. We could get off the tram and walk through one sound stage. It was where they filmed Switch with Robert Wagner and Eddie Albert. I actually saw Marty Feldman leaving the studios and he waved to the tram tour! The old days of the studios were great.

I know things have to be updated over time, but when you mentioned the old Alfred Hitchcock show it makes me wish that the Studios park was still about showing how movies were made and seeing 'behind the scenes.' I miss when theme parks used to have a unique identity and not this more recent trend of big IP based lands that could be plopped anywhere and parks with generic names like 'Islands of Adventure' or 'Epic Universe.' Not to bash on Universal too much but I like when each park is totally different in it's themes and purpose.

I remember a lot of that stuff you mentioned with a couple of obscure things I had no clue about. The Hercules and Xena attraction was opened with a very unique ribbon cutting. Keep the good work digging up weird theme park history

I miss old Universal. The Marx Brothers, Charlie Chaplin, and Mae West. I have a picture of my nephew being held by Hercules. That would never happen now!! If you do a video about when there was a parking lot, make sure to visit the bathroom hallway down in the bus loop. (Behind the stairs) There are pictures of the lot being built.

One of my first trips to Universal, I was amazed at how it looked. I turned a corner, and slammed right into someone. I was so embarrassed. Then I realized who I had run into. Sherman Klump. I can confirm that he walked the Studios. He apologized to me and I apologized to him. It was awkward and awesome. Miss that aspect of Universal.

Oh no... The way you said "Naughty... Dog..." Ouch! Naughty Dog developed Crash Bandicoot, as well as more modern well known videos games such as Uncharted and The Last of Us (including the movie Uncharted and the current HBO show TLOU). Fun facts of the day! Lol.
