Hey Steve, I believe this effect is caused by a portal into a separate reality where we all behave in nearly the exact same way except in a slightly different position. Hope this helps!

from what I understand, these are some kind of "fresnel" lenses to disperse the backlight before it hits the diffuser layer. the two layers make the backlight look like it's placed at infinity. It's optical magic, and it's definitely an interesting topic for a full-length video.

You can remove this part from your laptop screen and fit it into glasses, and only you will be able to see your screen

Is it a Fresnel-style diffuser for a CCFL-based backlight? Less intense than LED, so getting an even spread of illumination from the tubes requires more than just shoving it into a milky-translucent layer.

Isn't that a privacy filter film? Some laptops have them so the screen can only be read from straight in front of the screen, someone off to the side cant read the details.

I have no idea how this happens, but I think it might be done to improve the viewing angle of the screen?

This looks similar to the ludor's lens from NightHawkInLight's video "A Real Life Invisibility Cloak" (or something). Not quite the same, as it doesn't seem to have the same linear diffusing thing, but I would imagine it's a similar thing. If you can find another, placing them atop each other and seeing if you can observe any of the moray effect should help with determining the structure.
