Love the video. I noticed my oil level on my Mustang also reads high on the dipstick. I have 5 quarts in it and it’s way over the fill line like the one in your video. So do I leave the 5 quarts or drain a quart.?

@@boatdoctor100 There is a FORD bulletin for that just like some years of engines had the wrong dipstick in them to disregard the marks and make you own reference mark once filled from empty and the correct amount of oil is put in. I will try and look it up after the hustle of the holidays. But there is no way to send pics here is there?!

Sweet looking Saleen. Those Stern wheels are timeless classics. Great trouble shooting work - too bad the Megasquirt was at fault. I run one on my ‘93 Cobra (twin turbo Dart 347) and it was a bit of a learning curve but it’s a solid ECU with a lot of capability. Although not as common, ECU’s do occasionally fail. I once had to fix a shorted trace on an EEC - that was a bear to pinpoint but a little soldering and she was good to go.

That is a gorgeous car. I would have bet money on bad injectors after the compression test came back good. Great work sticking with it. I'd like to see inside the ecm to see if one of the capacitors is leaking.

Good display of troubleshooting skills! Well you know I think of MegaSquirt. I had to remove it from the Rustic Fox and install the stock computer for it to run properly... So I feel you pain Brother!

That was great you had another pimp xs to try. I didnt have great luck with the megasquirt ms3 or ms2, whichever it was so I went back to the stock a3m and the car runs great. Glad to see you got that saleen running correctly !

Yep I am a huge advocate for the factory computers unless you have some crazy build you're trying to squeeze out every bit of power

Foxbodies came with two style dipsticks from factory some that had 5 qt at the arrow and some that had 5qt at the word FULL. If you have both disticks you can set the side by side with oil on the from the engine and its wi be both the same

This is the reason i drive 200 miles one way to have Chris ( infamous project) work on my cars.The last shop had car for 6 months and put endless amount of hours trying to fix my car but to no avail . I gave up and shipped car to Chris. Never mind plug wires crossed and wrong plugs . BE VERY SELECTIVE WHO YOU LET WORK ON YOUR CAR .

On a 5.0 1990 mass air foxbody with older heads, cam, intake and a9l computer, what temp should my cylinders be around? I noticed my 1 and 5 cylinders are almost 100 degrees cooler then the rest? is that normal?

Remove all the oil from the engine and put 5 qt in with a new filter and u will see the dip fill line.for some foxes is at the F and some dilsticks are at the arrow. I own two fox bodies learned this a few weeks ago.

Dis you figure out what was wrong with the other ecu? Ive gone through pretty much the same issues lol i have megasqurt pro pnp 04 cobra and have the same condition. Iv have troubleshoot the same way and comes to either the spark is weak or the timings are not correct for just 1 cylinder. When i put a stock pcm out of a mach1 the car runs perfect

When it comes to spark plugs, it’s best to check with the manufacturer of your cylinder heads. Using a wedge shape based plug with cylinder heads that are intended to use plugs with crush washers, can actually damage the cylinder head. 11:00 did this step like 150 times still wouldn't run right stock heads shorter stock plugs/ alum heads longer plugs took me 2 months to figure that out ..what ever the heads are the manufacture will give you the best plugs that works with them heads if you ask then. Its NEVER STOCK PLUGS in alum heads !!! my issue was injectors were firing but they were stuck OPEN flooding some cylinders ... in the computers the compositors and boards carack as they move all the time in the car ..company that rebuilt mine in FL says about 20 yrs and all compositors will leak or crack open .mine a used A9L in a box sitting waiting for the right project 14 yrs had issues .... .pop that computer open lets take a look ??
