Weird mysterious noise in the woods story (happened to me personally)

Sumter National Forest SC, about 15yrs or so ago, around 11pm, was out late on the trail one night. Myself and a buddy were chased by several "somethings" all the way back down the trail & to the truck at the trail head. Never got a good look at what it was bc it was so dark & we didn't have adequate flashlights. We just couldn't get a good look at what it was, but whatever it was, it was big & angry. At first we thought it was ppl screwing with us bc we heard them whistling back n fourth to each other. Sounded like ppl trying to imitate bird calls or something, so we just thought we were getting messed with. Then one of them got mad. Started grunting, huffing & puffing. Then breaking trees, like fairly thick, living trees. We could tell they weren't dead trees by the sound they made when they were getting broken. They were loud as gunshots. Next it starting charging at us in the dark. Busting thru the forest like a bulldozer, breaking everything along the way. Every time we thought it was about to bust out of the thick stuff & on to the trail, it would stop, slowly back up (or turn around, not sure which) & go deeper into the darkness of the forest, then do it all over again. It kept working itself up & doing the same thing over n over again. Ran us all the way out like that. I don't know what happened to the other one, I was more concerned with the violent one. I seriously thought I was about to die. It scared me so bad, I could feel my bowls about to vacate themselves man (no joke, no shame). It was THAT bad. Was shaking, it made my body physically sick. It ran us all the way back to the truck with a combo of paralleling us & charging us, we jumped in & peeled out with the quickness. Have no clue what it was, never got an actual look at either of them (assuming there was only two). Idk if I could've handled seeing what it really was. All I could tell was that the angry one was BIG, just flat out BIG. Bigger than anything that should be running around the woods in SC. I've heard stories about similar behavior over the years, folks think it's bigfoot, sasquatch, boogers, wild men or whatever you wanna call them. If I had to guess, then I guess it could've been...? Idk what else could've done all that. I still get spooked to this day if I'm overnighting it in the woods. I won't camp without slugs in the pump gun, I promise you that. I enjoyed your story man.
