I always thought the Marlins sculpture was hideous but cool at the same time. Something quirky that gave the park its own identity.
@alberodriguez3234 Жыл бұрын
The sculpture is still outside the stadium which is really weird because the last 5 years they have been trying to modernize the team image but they kept the old sculpture.

The Marlins removed: - The pool + club in left field - The home run sculpture - The aquarium behind the plate - Super fun uniforms, like the orange jerseys - The funky green walls - The big yellow “foul pole” in right field. Now it’s boring and bland, and left empty most of the season. Marlins fans deserve better.
@FlyingGold Жыл бұрын
Exactly! I thought the new color scheme was great with their 2012 rebrand. And those insanely green panels were popping. Now its just same as any other. Just boring. I remember watching their first game at marlins park. Ozzie as manager. Lotta hype around that team back then.

You are right. The sculpture at Loan Depot Park didn’t go too far. The Marlins placed it outside of the stadium. And yes, it is getting beaten down by the weather elements.
@naujelbr Жыл бұрын
Loved the hill in Houston but players chasing potential homerun balls have their heads turned to the ball, not the hill. They run up to it blind and trip and it probably is pretty dangerous. Not unlike a hockey player boarding another chasing a puck. I actually get why they axed it.

Just want to add one to the list: Wrigley Field use to have both bullpens in the field of play and after 2016 they got rid of them
@lionsfan7500 Жыл бұрын
After the bullpen were removed from the field they now have the best bullpen in baseball. They are inside under the right field seats and are climate control. When I was a kid we would go to tiger stadium and their bullpens were on the field and the pitchers would sit on a bench on the field and during the game they would talk with us kids and sign autographs for us. Awesome memories!

5:56 You forgot to mention the Blue Jays also got rid of the Sightlines Buffet (that was the open-air bar between the Windows Restaurant "greenhouse" and the bottom of the old scoreboard). For the 2022 season they put in a bigger scoreboard which covers up that area.

@jtsholtod.79 Жыл бұрын
I don't know why he said Windows restaurant was an early 2000s thing. It was not, it was original to the SkyDome in 1989, and was pretty revolutionary at the time, along with the Hard Rock Cafe and hotel (not to mention the roof itself). They removed Windows in 2013, and have been trying to make the best of that concrete behemoth ever since.

The reason y the marlins had the statue is because it was a way of knowing if the team had a home run sure u can c it on the Jumbotrons but it’s nice to know it when something in the stadium is active so that the fans can have that home run energy by actually seeing the home run celebration from something in the stadium for example The train at Minute Maid park Or when fireworks go off at globe life park and petco park

It might have been unique but it was just absolutely hideous. EDIT: I also hated that hill too. There was no natural reason to have it. Plus the injury issue was big to me. I'm not that guy that that complains about injuries and safety issues when it comes to sports but that hill was absolutely pointless.
@TBone31 Жыл бұрын
Dude I love these constant uploads keep it up!
@mattjohnson6577 Жыл бұрын
Houston could've kept the hill. Just move the Flag pole instead of removing the hill. so much fun watching center fielders run up that hill to keep a double from turning into either a triple or even an inside the park homerun
@aboxofbroken8tracks983 Жыл бұрын
Flag pole was actually one of the cooler quirks; the whole thing was _in play._ A ball that was crushed could hit the top of it theoretically, bounce back to the field and still be in play. Nobody has any imagination anymore.

If that Adrian Gonzales Homerun landed in the sand box then it’s not gonna be on a petco park farthest home runs compilation. Because that would be a wall scraper

I grew up a Derek jeter fan my entire life even though my team is the Mets but I have to tell you he killed this stadium I visited it for the 1st time the year after they removed all of this and I was absolutely disappointed. I don't care who said what about the lime green walls it was different and Miami could get away with it!!!! The fish tank and also the thing in the back with the dolphin. I hate to make this personal but every single person that complains is from a cold bridal city in the midwest or the north east and they don't realize that the marlins are not an old team every stadium can't be made of brick I personally still like Marvin's park alot.
