In which I show off some more devices, hopefully a little more interesting than the last time.
I should note that I was not able to stabilize this video due to my video editor basically just shitting the bed. I hope it doesn't make you puke. Once I have a better CPU and RAM I will reencode and reupload.

I've always loved seeing rainbow ribbon cables in computers and devices, but the spectrum of clips on the edge cards in the HP takes it to another level. The inside is a work of art unto itself.

I had to look up what ERP meant in the context of shifty family computer use. I feel wiser now. Also really appreciate your videos. Lgr is one of my favorite things ever, and youre like an 18+ lgr channel. Good shit. Edit: hearing your thoughts on ganoo slash linUx, im afraid ill have to agree with you. Powerful as it is, the user experience in linux is sometimes completely atrocious. I still love it tho. Cheers!

I had one of those AIM messengers, was so nice and I felt sooooo cool having it along with my Palm M505. Other people didn't seem to agree. I think your right about DECT, mine always seemed to mess up this one off brand of wireless phone my parents had in their bedroom.

I appreciate this off the cuff show and tell video for what it is. Your modern content circa 2023/2024 tends towards deep dives and are expertly produced. Very good videos. But i would welcome the occasional update like this on odds and ends should you still wish to make such content. Love your work pal.

I was of the target age for the IMfree as was my sister, both of us were AIM users at the time, but I ever recall these, nor any of the other late 90s early 2000s instant messenger devices. They weren't all that popular where I grew up I guess. Then again we had cell phones, and I had a bunch of different Palm Pilots, an HP Jornada, and a Compaq Ipaq at that time.

If you had more than 1 pc at home, it was almost a sure bet that you didnt have a 2nd phone line to go online with it as well. If the household did have a 2nd phone line it was certainly reserved for mom or dads business phone calls. And thats it.

2003 seems very late for a instant messaging AOL device. I was born in 1984 and by 2003 everyone I knew had a nokia cell phone for texting. AOL was dying out and the motorola razor was only a year away in 2004. I had started building my own PCs around 2000 but it is still pretty accurate that most homes had the "family PC" or no PC at all.

I am also astonished. All these years later and nobody commented that I had, somehow, remembered an ancient wavelan config tool that was maybe freebsd specific. Absolutely no idea what was going on with my head that day. Doesn't matter, I still wouldn't have gotten it working, I'm sure it was 802.11b and I didn't have an AP.

Of fucking course he was referring to Linux as in using Desktop Linux distros (which I love, but I 100% understand that is a fucking pain that most people won't want to go through, even very tech savvy ones). Android is not Linux just because it uses the linux kernel. Everybody knows the kernel is called Linux. Doesn't matter, that obviously was not what he was referring to.
