Weird, Wild, Wonderful FLIBS Exodus

Some of the more striking and modern styled yachts leaving the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, a drone boat and others. I stacked axe bow and modern styled yachts in this video and peppered in some good Invincible and HCB action. This was my first sighting of the HCB 65 Estrella, I was waiting specifically for this yacht and thankfully it came just before a rain storm overcame the beach.

Haven’t the hull designs changed a lot over recent years, not sure I like the look of the plumb bows but they seem to work well. I’ve had 3 weeks leave and only able to get the boat out on 3 days, bloody wind! 🎣🍺🛥🇦🇺

Thank you for the video . My armchair observations of the day . I could always distinguish Fountain Boats by what I refer to as that " hook nose ". That little over hang in the bow . The newer models don't seem to have that pronounced hook anymore . And I thought the VAN Dutch was the only European boat builder to use that hull design and style but in today's video I noticed other builders that look the same as the Van Dutch . In some cases it was hard to tell them apart . Once again thank you for the video and keep up the GREAT WORK .

That Mansion "yacht" is ridiculous, you can see it floundering against the waves. Its square dimensions are no good for sea conditions. Loved watching the Hinckley ride so serenely over the swells while some of the bigger stuff was lurching and bouncing. Favourite would be the Mangusta it just looked so good, stylish yet aggressive. Great video thanks for posting. Did that fisherman at the end actually catch anything?

Interesting boats, one wonders if the plumb bow designs reduce pitching or if it's just a design exercise. The new male enhancement tool seems to be at least four outboards hanging on your stern. Is there any practical advantage for that arrangement as opposed to going to inboards?

It all about increasing the waterline length for greater efficiency (the sailing fraternity have done it for half a century and those boats looked strange at first) The vertical bow, not strictly an axe-bow as suggested in the narrative, that's something different, is intended to part the waves rather than climb over them. It gives a smoother ride with less pitching. The longer narrower hull is more efficient, so faster for a given engine size, and can stay out in worse conditions. The needle-nosed and flared hulls that seem to be still popular with some (!!) simply slam too much.

The only reason (that I can think of) for putting multiple outboards on the back of a large boat is to save money, and free up space inside the boat. But then, with two motors you double the chance of something going wrong, although on one engine few boats can plane back to harbour, their speed is considerably reduced, usually to a quarter. Perhaps the four motors allow one to break and leave you with enough power from the remaining three to sprint home. Getting home is one thing, getting home quickly before nightfall or a gale is a safety blanket that I can imagine being attractive. But you are right, I imagine that ego is the main reason for the sprouting of engines on the back of some boats.
