I loved it! Rowan would’ve been a great Doctor, and I really like his costume. You can definitely see that Moffat reused some ideas from this special in his era. It’s far better than anything Chibnall churned out! Oh, and Pryce as the Master was a brilliant idea!

I’ve always personally thought that Rowan Atkinson was channelling his inner Pertwee with this performance. The way he delivers the lines, his mannerisms; he just feels like Jon. The highlight of this story, though, is undoubtedly Jonathan Pryce as the Master. Not only is he hilarious, but he is able to combine the best aspects of Delgado and Ainley into this neat little package. I’d love for him to return and play the character properly, minus the campiness.

Weirdly, I just watched this on KZbin this morning for the first time in years and then up pops your video. I completely agree that it was clearly written by a fan of the show and that it is fun! I remembered enjoying it when it first came out, but rewatching it reinforced how good it is at being true to Doctor Who while being really funny!

This is indeed one of my first bits of doctor who I've ever seen. I thought it was quite funny and it did help with making me more interested in doctor who. So yeah you could argue this special made me more eager to become a fan.

This was Comic Relief. Brill Jonnathan Price as the master. And the first woman Doctor!!! An the bumps why not. And Time crash was for Children in need hope you have seen that. Moffet writing too.

I laughed at this because it's almost a parody not only of the show but of Moffat's writing too. It's very timey wimey, he could just as easily have written this now and it would still pick up on the traits of his time as show runner.

Yep, stuff like the "bribe the architect" madness is far more akin to the Moffat era than anything that showed up in the Classic era where time travel was rarely used beyond getting between episodes.

This wasn't the VERY first thing I watched from Doctor Who, but it was definitely like the 3rd or 4th story that I had watched after discovering it. I enjoyed this a lot, it definitely had me confused before I really knew what regeneration was and how the classic series was. If it wasn't for this I probably wouldn't have looked into the classic series and that's hilarious to me

I did a whole video years ago about all the ideas from this that Moffat reused in his own era. Because there is a LOT. Which I guess makes sense when you think he probably thought this would be his only chance to write Who, he threw all the ideas he always wanted to do at it.

I think it would be interesting to know if Moffat rewatches it cause his whole era seems based on this sketch. Unless he does just really love those ideas so much he remembered them anyway It is kinda strange to have a sketch that is essentially a parody that I would say, with no sense of looking down on it as lesser, is every bit as good as the show proper. I'd watch this if they made it into a real plot

Not gonna lie, I hated it. So much cringe, especially the "bumps". I really have no idea how Moffat made it so far writing comedy. Of course most of his drama also makes me wonder. Must be a Brit thing.
