I live in northern Arkansas, and Pawpaws are common here. The entire fruit is edible, except the seeds. If thoroughly ripe there is no need peeling it, because the ripe peeling is very delicate and tender. In all the world the Pawpaw is my favourite fruit. It tastes like sweet creamy custard.

You asked for our Top Tens! TOP TEN: 1: Prickly Pear (I'm glad you got a better one!) 2: Cherries (especially Rainier Cherries) 3: Granadilla (tart and sweet and I like crunching the seeds) 4: Mangosteen (got it on your recommendation and they were so tasty!) 5: Lemon (lemon flavored treats or unsweetened lemonade, I even eat it fresh) 6: Lychee (super tasty but very hard to find good ones here in Canada) 7: Pomelo (sadly a compound in it means I cant eat it or grapefruit or lime) 8: Grapes (particularly black grapes and Concord grapes for the intense flavour) 9: *Good* apples (Jazz is my favourite variety, excellent sliced with peanut butter) 10: Pears (particularly Bosc pears or 'Asian pears', for that crispiness) My partner likes durian but the rest of the fam doesn't, and I'm curious to try one since eating the whole thing on your own sounds... intimidating :P I don't guarantee I'll like it but I'm open to it and think I *might*. Also going to reserve and cook the seeds as per your suggestion! Keep up the good work, loving the binge of this channel!

Same here! After a couple years of searching I found some at an unassuming grocery store in the middle of nowhere PA and well,..they weren't as amazing as I was expecting. They definitely had more of a mystique about them before I tried them. :/ I hope your experience is different!!! :)

nice! I don't think I've had Pacific dewberry or Thimbleberry. Really ought to do a bramble episode one of these days

A bramble episode sound interesting. Pacific dewberries taste somewhat tart equivalent to a barely ripe mango, has all the flavor of blackberries without the bitterness, and grapefruit without the bitterness, and raspberries. Thimbleberries have a strong taste like raspberries, slightly tart like a fresh honey crisp apple. both have an herbal crispness like a cola or tart fruit soda.

Thank you for giving me the names to varieties that I've wanted to hunt down. Excellent work for humanity. The bonus is that the comments section isn't too crazy and mostly filled with more ideas for fruits to try. "If you live in Australia, you have no excuse" - essentially applies to so many awesome experiences relating to SEA but then it's the most flip-flop sun-shorts 80s neon pastel bogan motherchunderers that take advantage of it all-- screaming about their poorly fried free-eggs and the thieving bar girl that obviously took money he left on the night stand because that's implied but he's literally 2 points above medical brain damage. So I guess don't challenge Aussies to explore because the only ones provoked are the worst kind while the nice ones stay at home being pleasant? They won't eat anything but butter chicken, let them be.

@weird explorer For the velvet Apple or Kamagong. You can actually eat the seeds when the fruit is still young. They look and taste like jelly.
So how do berries from temperate areas, like strawberries, marionberries, thimbleberries, tayberries, lingonberries, etc., plus nectarines, cherries, plums, pears, etc., compare with guava, mango, passion fruit, paw paw, sapote, etc.?

I also grew all these trees at my old house in Florida before I moved. Now I grow and eat exotic fruits and vegetables out here.
