I'm a Mexican food loving American, but I married a self-proclaimed Mexican food hating Brit. However, I've converted him quite simply with 2 dishes: chicken quesadillas and chicken tacos. I make my chicken tacos much like you described in the video, however I use a little orange juice instead of sugar. One of these days I'm going to get him to love enchiladas. It's a risk, but I love proving him wrong about food.

BARBACOA! AL PASTOR! SCRAMBLED EGGS!! Also, as a mexican, I appreciate you clarifying that hard shell tacos are an American construct. If we want crunchy, we go with a flat fried or baked corn tortilla called a tostada, that's waaaaay easier to manouver and eat 😂

Tacos dorados are absolutely Mexican, but are NOT the same as hardshell tacos, they will veeeery rarely split and betray you like a hardshell: for dorados the tortilla is deep fried after the tortilla is already made, whereas the hardness of the hardshell comes from the making process itself 😅

Breakfast tacos have been around for well over a century. My grandma was born in Socorro, New Mexico in 1897 and when she was a kid they regularly had what are now known as breakfast tacos. And what about gorditas, rolled tacos (or taquitos)? I'm sure I'll think of more, l live in the southwest close to Juarez. And two of my children are part native. Maybe it's a regional thing but every Hispanic in this area doesn't consider tacos to be made with flour tortillas, they consider that a burrito. They consider tacos to be made with corn tortillas.
